    Dear CreativeCow wizards,

I have got a small question which google cannot answer for me. Is it possible to ‘rate stretch’ multiple clips at once in Premiere Pro? (and if so, how?)

I make “time-lapse-ish” whiteboard movies. Because the footage I use is of a real person making real drawings, the footage is way too long, has unnecessary pauzes and mistakes I have to cut out. So whenever I am ready to retime a part of the movie to match the audio, it consists of multiple clips. Anyway, a picture is worth a thousands words:

The rate stretch tool only works for single clips, grouping doesn’t help either and changing the duration applies to individual clips (and some clips are longer than others). Changing the speed (percentage) of all the clips is exactly what I want to do, but I have to guess a couple of times before getting it right, which feels a bit clumsy.

So, does anyone know an easy way to rate stretch multiple consecutive clips to match the audio?

    Thanks!
    Michiel

    Hi…

If you nest the selected clips…the rate stretch tool can be used on the nested clip…

(select clips, right click on selected, nest)…

    hi Alex,

When you nest clips Premiere creates an entirely new sequence. If you double click the nested sequence in your timeline, or find the sequence in the project panel, you’ll have the original cuts and transitions in a new timeline. From there you should be able to make any changes you need to your original edits.
