I’ve had good results using quicktime references from .mxf DNxHD files, but that was many months ago, before mxf support. Haven’t tried recently

Just to be clear prores does not fast import on windows but must convert to dnxhd in less using a macintosh.

Try 5D to RGB. I know it works with embedded THM files with my 60d, should be the same for the T3i

The only pro res codec that supports alpha channels is prores 4444. When you let fcpx “optimize” your media it transcodes to prores 422, so no alpha channel. Easy fix don’t convert your graphics

The app clip exporter will not flatten your sequence. It will enable you to send your entire project to after effects including all of your cuts etc. not everything will translate so you may need to redo dissolves etc.
Either that or manually rebuild in AE. I recomend buying clip exporter. The workflow you suggested is really the only other option.

I’ve done this recently. I went to Walgreens & bought a piece of green poster board. Measured & cut to the size of the screen, taped it on. Worked well, just gotta make sure it’s lit right.

Bummer, I guess no one told them about the Academic Media Composer at $300 and four years of free upgrades. That’s some bang for your buck.

I just did this last night. Make sure you have checked use AAF protocol and link to all the media. Save the aaf to the folder with all of the pro res files. Now once in davinci add all the pro res to the media pool. Once you load the AAF it should link to the pro res.
BUT it only worka if all timecode, clipnames, reel are all the same if not… Well have fun…
