It is not “on,” indeed it is nowhere to be found. Is there a way of turning these effects “on and off”? Thanks for replying Jeremy. Where should I look for it?

I thought about purchasing the ME4 for situations where there is a lot of BG noise, but I read in various forums that a lot of people don’t like this ME4 mic. Is there a suggestion for an alternative mic that can also plug into the Sennheiser Evolution G2 100 wireless system?

I can’t get Compressor 4 to burn disks in ML 10.8.2 (it just hangs and stalls at 95% of processing), but Compressor t works fine if I boot from Lion 10.7.4

Bummer! the new Compressor update (4.0.5) does not fix this issue–wish I could get this fixed. What I had to do was burn a Lion system (10.7.4) onto a backup drive, reboot into Lion, then Compressor burns without a problem… But. That is a hassle. Wish it would just work as intended.

I am open to suggestions.

So I may have figured this out but I still need some advice.

Okay, so the .mov file I exported from FCPX was 960×720. When I burn a regular DVD from that file it comes out fine. When I go to burn a blu ray it comes out squeezed…

So on a small FCPX Project file I experimented by changing the properties of the video from 960×720 (which is what gets imported from my Panasonic HPX170) to 1280×720. The small video seemed okay, indeed, it came out just fine.

My question is, when I change the properties on my 80 minute film will it do funky things to the project?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help me.

I am not sure why it would have anything to do with FCPX because I am uploading the .mov file from my desk top already created with FCPX into Compressor to create a DVD. Again, it outputs an ac3 file and a m2v file but it stalls just as it gets ready to burn… I notice before it used to create a folder called PAL, that isn’t happening now. Compressor used to work fine. Indeed, I was already making copies of the mov file that can’t be burned (it won’t burn other files either).

I tried digital rebellions Compressor Repair, that didn’t work either. This is driving me nuts.

Are you sure your event file is only 666.66 MBs big, or 666 GBs? I had a very serious crash too because my event file had grown to a whopping 758 GBs and I was using compound clips a lot at the same time within the same event folder (this is for a 90 minute feature film). Eventually an Apple representative read of my tribulations on this CCow website, contacted me directly, and helped me get things back online (though I lost about a week’s worth of work). The fix involved using one of the backup versions of the event. The key when making projects with FCPX is keeping the event files small. I made 2 mistakes, one was loading all the footage I shot for the film into one event (this sounded logical to me at the time I began doing it). Then I started doing everything in compound clips, which apparently bloats the hell out of everything… Maybe that was happening with your multiclips action.

I do use Event Manager as this helps speed up FCPX by not loading every single project and event when i open up FCPX, only the ones I need to work on.

I still find FCPX tough to work with. A lot of spinning beach balls and wait time even though I have an i7 iMac. Sometimes it takes 20-30 minutes from the time I hit command/quit until the program finally shuts down. FCPX also takes forever to load even using event manager.

I know there aren’t a lot of solutions in what I wrote here, but I have felt your pain!

What is DCP-NTSC and how would that work flow go from FCPX?

I started out using bright yellow lettering for the subtitles, but I hated the way it overwhelmed the film. I wound up going with white lettering, using the basic title generator, the Helvetica Neue font (60 pt, though I may reduce this), with a black outline and a slight black drop shadow. Very readable, not overwhelming, works well. All 100% opacity as recommended.
