Thanks to everyone who answered. I downloaded Topaz, but I can’t afford it right now. Then I decided to try Handbrake, which I have used for years for various odds and ends and have always managed to accomplish a lot with it, and sure enough, after trying out a few options it made the film clip in question look pretty good.

Well, I learned a couple of things today. First, the thing that fell out of the mic is called a threaded pin or grub screw, you can get it here (I have attached a picture as to what it looks like):
The second thing I learned was to pause and think, like, when was the first time the mic casing popped off? I retraced my steps in my mind and then remembered I had carefully put the camera w/mic on the backseat of my car when going from one place to another to shoot… So, I went out, looked in the back seat, and there the little bugger was. Oh what a great day this is….!!!!

Actually, what it turned out to be was the econo mode setting on the projector. When I switched to the normal mode for projection it looked fine.

Okay, so I went into the INFO/SETTINGS like you said:
1) I gave the 4 long clips “Angle 1”
2) I gave the 200+ short clips “Angle 2” (you know you did this right if n the browser it lists the camera angles beside the clips)
3) I then selected all the clips in the browser (I had them all in one Library folder) and then selected the Multicam command under FILE/NEW/MULTICAM CLIP…BTW, yes, there was audio on all the clips…
And it worked beautifully. Wow. That would have taken me hours to do that manually! Many, many thanks David!
Now, though, I have these gaps on the Multicam
1) How do I get rid of these? i.e., make is so those clips are together and not have that grey area between them?
2) Could I get a quick sentence as to how to edit in multicam?

Here is what I am doing for backup (Thanks to all who helped me by posting their thoughts and ideas).
The data backup found in FCPX preferences is on my iMac’s hard drive (takes up very little space).
All of my Libraries (media, clips, etc) are stored an an external hard drive (1).
I copied all the same Libraries over to another external hard drive (2). (same names, I just dragged and dropped). I then keep external hard drive (2) turned off because I intend to backup only at the very end after the work is done and I have closed FCPX.
At the end of the day, after I work on a project, I use Carbon Copy Cloner to back up that particular Library from external hard drive (1) to external hard drive (2). Very fast and works great. This way if external hard drive (1) completely craps out–my biggest fear–I won’t miss a beat. You can even schedule CCC to backup as you work but that would mean leaving both drives on at all times, not sure if this would slow things down, which is why I decided not to do it.
