  • Every time i try to Reverse Tecline my entire movie 24GBs of DVCPRO50, Cinema tools will stop and give an error messsage, “out of memory”

However, I know I have enough memory on my disk.

I am working off of a Dual 2.5 GHz G5 with 4.5 GB DDR SDRAM

  • Oh My Goodness!!!! I think that worked. I tried it on the small clip that I posted, and it worked. Now I am trying it on the whole movie.

Thank you so much. I’ll post again when it is finished.

    Thank you,
    Jack

  • I’m not exaclty sure what the tape is- that’s my problem. But I captured it as 29.97. And when the freshly captured 29.97 clip is played, it plays back with every fifth frame being a repeat of the fourth frame.

I’m not sure if I am being too clear. If you need more information, or if you would like me to explain everything a little more clearly and concisely, let me know.

    I appreciate your help,
    Jack

  • Thanks.

I don’t know Cinema Tools well. Does anyone have a walk through of how to set up a project that would help me accomplish Sean’s suggestion.

I opened a test clip and did the reverse telecine with the following settings:

    File: New (smaller)
    Conform to: 23.98 standard upper/lower

Then I exported the file 20 times. Changing the “Fields” selection for each (as I went through all 4 Capture Mode settings). When I brought these clips into a 23.98 sequence in Final Cut, they did not have to be rendered, but they still looked the same- with every fourth frame being interlaced.

    Thanks,

  • It seems like this program deals only with sequences.

I need to take a clip, which has markers, from the viewer window and insert it into a sequence. When it inserets- I need those edit markers from the clip to pop up in the sequence’s timeline. Basically, the markers will duplicate over the sequence.

Additionally, I would like those edit markers to automatically be Chapter Markers.

    Thanks,
    Jack

  • The files are JPEG’s and TIFF’s. They all open up in photoshop fine.

In a new AE project, the jpeg’s import fine, but most of the TIFF files get the same error message.

I’m sorry. I just solved my own problem. I have playback set to low…..

in your last post you said, “You might need standards conversion from nattress.com to make it convert to 23.98 smoothly”

If I am going to use Standard Conversion- should i capture the VHS footage as 29.97 DVCPRO50 and let standard conversion make it 23.98?

Thanks again- this is very helpful.

    Shane,

Sorry to keep hitting you with more questions. I should have included more detail in my original post.

But I just want to be clear: I have to log 29.97 footage from a VHS tape for inclusion in a DVCPRO50 23.98 Advanced pulldown anamorphic sequence.

I guess another question of mine is how should I capture the VHS footage?- as DVCPRO or DVCPRO50.

    Thanks,
    Jack

Is it possible to convert 29.97 clips to 23.98 using cinema tools?
