I read your old thread and you said you used “Conform.” Don’t use conform instead use “reverse telecine” under the clip menu. And then use “conform to 23.98” and then use the default selections – F1/F2, AA.

    See if this helps…

Oh My Goodness!!!! I think that worked. I tried it on the small clip that I posted, and it worked. Now I am trying it on the whole movie.

Thank you so much. I’ll post again when it is finished.

    Thank you,
    Jack

Every time i try to Reverse Tecline my entire movie 24GBs of DVCPRO50, Cinema tools will stop and give an error messsage, “out of memory”

However, I know I have enough memory on my disk.

I am working off of a Dual 2.5 GHz G5 with 4.5 GB DDR SDRAM

OK, i got Cinema Tools to Reverse Teceline. I brought the file into Final Cut Pro and this is what I get every forth frame:

Is there something I forgot to do or need to do? These are the same results I got back when I tested reverse telecine with various settings.

If someone could download my clip and see if they can get to work right, that would be awesome.

    Thanks,
    Jack

Did you capture DV50 over firewire? if so, do me a favor and take a clip of footage in the bin. Select it and choose Tools>Remove Advanced Pulldown. That looks/sounds kinda like advanced pulldown to me.

There is a size limit to the file in Cinema Tools. Check the manual to see what the size limit is. It sounds like reverse telecine within cinema tools is working. The file is probably too big. Advanced pulldown won’t work if it’s a standard 2:3 pulldown which according to your previous postings is probably what the post house did since they performed a tape a tape color correction.

I got cinematize to work. Now every fourth frame looks like this in FCP:

(this is a link to download a still JPEG of a screen capture)

After I run it through cinema tools, do I need to “Remove the Pulldown” in FCP?

If someone would be willing to download this small clip I uploaded and see if they can get to play correctly in Final Cut Pro, I think we could solve this problem. Here’s the link to the clip. If you figure it out, please post or e-mail me the steps I need to take.

[JackNastowski] “After I run it through cinema tools, do I need to “Remove the Pulldown” in FCP?”

No. Cinema Tools is removing the pulldown. I looked at it and this is not advanced pulldown, it’s regular 3:2 pulldown. Sorry about that previous post. I downloaded your clip and did the reverse telecine and was left with all progressive frames. You have to choose the A frame manually in cinema tools. The A frame is the frame in between the two progressive frames. In the clip that you have provided, it is the 4th frame (hit the right arrow three times and leave the playhead there). Click reverse telecine and chose these options: conform to 23.98, UNCHECK standard upper/lower, F1-F2, Fields AA Style 1

    This should work.

This problem I’m having somewhat relates to this forum but I’m going crazy with my P2 Files from my panasonic 200HVX card. I film and set the camera to record at 24PA 1280x 1080 yet when the footage has completed importing into my FCP7 project clips window it always shows the frame rate at 29.97 I set easy set up for the rate 24PA 1280X1080 yet the frame rate in the clips box shows it at 29.97???? What I’m doing wrong? Thanks for any advice

In the log and transfer preferences, click the “remove advanced pull down” section to end up with 23.976 media when importing.

I think you can remove the pillows after import under the “Tools” menu? Not sure about that one, though. Look for something that says, “remove pull down” or something similar. I’m not in front of a computer at the moment.
