  • Images won’t reconnect (using replace footage) HELP

Posted by Jack Nastowski on May 1, 2006 at 12:36 am

I just got an AE file from a a person running AE 5.5 on Windows. I’m running 6.5 on a Mac.

The Project contains 60 still images. I have the images on my computer. When the project opens, AE reports the images as missing. I try to replace footage and connect them to their files, but it does nothing after i click “Open”. When I attempt a replace footage and use “find” to retrieve the image- i get this message after I click on “Open”-

I keep getting the error: “The File format module could not parse the file”

    Any suggestions?

    Your help is wildly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jack

Tell us about the file format of the stills. What are they?
Can you import them directly into a new project as a test?
    Will they open in Photoshop?

The files are JPEG’s and TIFF’s. They all open up in photoshop fine.

In a new AE project, the jpeg’s import fine, but most of the TIFF files get the same error message.

Perhaps the TIFFs were saved using the PC byte order? Can you open them in Photoshop and do a batch resave to Mac byte order?

(the choice is in the PS save dialog, after you choose to save as TIFF)
