  • Thanks. I was the cameraman and would not make such a change. I tried capturing again from another camera and it worked. Now I wonder if one of my camera’s is in need to of maintenance.

Because “archive” didn’t produce any appreciable results, I left the files as is (uncompressed).

Well, I guess nothing has changed. Right click archive reduced a 61.49 gig folder to a 56.69 gig zip.

Actually, I tried a small movie clip last night using right click archive, and was surprised that a 172k clip was reduced to 102k. It seems that archive does something that stuffit cannot. Currently I am trying to archive 65 gig of captured movie clips. It will be interesting to see (in 5 hours) if there is any reduction.

This bare bones option reminds me that I have a western digital portable enclosure with a drive that went south. All I need to do is strip out the interface and I can swap drives when needed.

What is the largest size and length of the clips you have placed on this site?

It maybe that Lacie wants the option to treat an out of warranty repair as a warranty repair. Once Lacie decides you will either get a warranty repair or Lacie will authorize the distributor to repair it at your cost.

When it “died” do you mean no lights no sound as if it didn’t have power? Lacie has had some power supply problems, which has caused all sorts of quirky symptoms. It is not that the power supply fails, but that they are under powered, which makes them look good on a volt meter but often not able to supply what the amperage a drive requires. This was especially prevalent with the 500s. If you have a 1T try a power supply (assuming the voltage is the same) for a 2T. This of course assumes that the problem is that your current supply has suffered heat damage and no longer can supply the required amperage.
