If you are editing 24p then I assume you are not
    editing in an HDV set-up?
    Depending on sequence settings….
    You will need to:
    1.) De-interlace the 60i footage.
2.) Use Cinema tools to conform the 29.97 de-interlaced file
    to 23.98.
Dedicated plug-ins like Magic Bullitt will do this
conversion better but for the sake of time try the
    2 steps above.

    Yes Raylight works….
We use it just for that purpose…
Using DVCPRO HD files in AE on a PC.
    Thanks Marcus!

What are they using to sweeten the audio with?
Why not export an OMF file??
Try some other burned discs to see
if the player spits those out??

    5.0.4 should be OK…
I worked for many months on that build.
If you have the camera insert the P2 card
and see if they will play.
Your camera has to be set to what the clips were
    shot at.
How are you loading the P2 card?

    I purchased it before 5.1.2….
I think it is still very useful for $100.
5.1.2 import is good but you can not get
    a full-screen preview unless you
    import and make a QT….
Many times I just want to check
    something and if we don’t
    have a monitor connected
    to camera than viewing
from my G4 laptop on the 17″
    monitor can spot many problems
    and saves time on-set.

Yes you are correct. Just wanted to make sure
    the original poster understood that.

I have been since March. If your not running 5.1.2…
    then upgrade before Dec 20th.
I usually copy cards in the field.
Use P2 log to have a quick look.
You could see them in FCP but the screen size
    is to small.

That does not work for DVCPRO HD .mxf

I have been playing with this…..
    I can “re-build” a CONTENTS folder….
Using an old .XML file I could re-write some of
the info so that I could load an orphaned .mxf
    file using P2 log.
I could then make a DVCPRO HD file.
I could not get it to load in FCP….
But the fact that I could at least get it to
load in P2 log is a good back-up.
You can open and edit the .XML file
    with Text Editor…..
And you need to know about how long the file
is and how it was shot….

Unless you have all the P2 CONTENTS you cannot just transfer a .mxf file
using Final Cut Pro. This is one shortcoming that Apple needs to address.
I also have Edius on PC for just such a situation. I can load a single
.mxf but must save as PhotoJpeg QT as Edius cannot output DVCPRO HD files…
