I finally figured it out! It’s a rights issue. Just add your name on the Access Control List of the library file you’re trying to open and give yourself “Full Rights”. Completely fixes the problem

I have started to get this message of late too. I’m running Windows 7. Are you? The really odd thing is, if I log out and then in again the file opens without a problem.

You didn’t mention what codec you’re using to render. See my comments around this board about my experiences with Sony AVC vs. Main Concept. Main Concept solved all of my problems.

I can’t speak to your disappearing mts files, but I’m editing both mts & m2ts files with no problem (I switched from a Canon HDV tape camera to a Sony hard drive).
In terms of rendering, after weeks of pulling my hair out trying to use the Sony AVC codec running Vegas 8c and 9 under Vista 32 and even in desperation Windows 7, I switched to rendering with Main Concept and have nothing but smooth sailing. Not a single hiccup.

This question was posed about Vegas 6. We’re now on Vegas 8 and as far as I can see there is still no support for surround sound in nested projects. Please someone tell me I’m wrong.
