they are at too low to be user-upgraded. must be 1.13 or higher.you risk an inoperable camera. contact Sony support, they will bring it up to date and then you will be able to do future updates yourself ..

If you have access to a Sony XDCAM device you can copy them to disc, then pull the non interleaved files from the ProAV folder
Otherwise the only way to really do this is to use something like FFMPEG or the Sony SDK to extract the MPEG data and rewrap the AES stems to new .mxfs

Reveal the Pro AV folder on the disc. This contains the raw, non interleaved files. They are still Op1A, technically, but will behave like Op-Atom files.
Once inside the ProAV folder you’ll see a Clip folder with different sub folders for each clip.
Note there is no easy way to get back to interleaved files without rendering out a new .mxf from Avid, FCP or whatever you are using.
To reveal ProAV on the U1/U2 drive go to the User Settings area of the software utility and de-select “Hide ProAV folder”. To reveal this folder on the HD1500/1600 deck go to the Maintenance Menu (Shift + Home + Menu keys), then navigate to M3 Others–> M33 File I/F Config–>ProAV Display. If you are using a model other than the above let me know..
It’s best to turn off ProAV when you don’t need it as this will prevent you from accidentally double-copying all of your data when copying/archiving discs. The Clip/Sub/Edit folders are virtual but if you copy a disc manually and include ProAV you will end up copying everything twice (with 100 GB of data for a 50 GB disc…)

this is an old one with mostly FCP 7.0.3 elements. it should be safe but I can’t be 100% sure because they may have added something to it since it was first released. copy your QT library folder before you update. you can then revert back if necessary.

no wifi support on the NX5, I’m afraid, but it is on all of the newer PMW models (PMW160, PMW200, PMW300 etc)

If you right click on the tracks in the timeline and select Expand Audio Video, then Expand Audio, you should see the original multichannel recording from the camera. Is this what you need to do?

No, but it is a pretty simple process. Best practice is to use CB to drag the clips from the card to your drive (i.e. from one location in the Explorer Window to another). Make sure that CRC checking is enabled in Preferences–>Edit–>Copy. This adds verification to the process.
You can also do a ‘Copy All’ using the “ALL” button in the top left of each Explorer Window or by right clicking on a card and selecting “Copy All.” This will clone the card to a location you can select.
You can also do Mac OS Finder (i.e. drag and drop or copy/paste) copies of the card though this is not recommended as there is no CRC/checksum verification. If you do find yourself having to manually copy the files, copy everything you see on the root level of the card to a new folder (e.g. “card 1”). Do not rename or modify the contents. If you put everything into a new folder Content Browser will treat that folder like an archive, meaning you will see the files as soon as you click on it.
