January 28, 2014 at 8:45 pm in reply to: Sony EX3 Cam – What should I transcode the raw footage to? (which codec)you’ll be able to import a loose .mp4 but you should import via the media browser when possible. this will preserve any spanned clips (clips made up of multiple files).

January 28, 2014 at 6:21 pm in reply to: Sony EX3 Cam – What should I transcode the raw footage to? (which codec)It is MPEG-2 with an .mp4 wrapper. “Mov.” just refers to a QuickTime movie file which itself could be anything. For example, you could transcode to a QT in the ProRes or Avid DNX codec or you could use our tools to put a QuickTime ‘wrapper’ around the file while leaving the video format unchanged. This is what we do for FCP, which supports our codecs natively but does not like .mxf or .mp4 files.

January 28, 2014 at 4:05 pm in reply to: Clip plays fine in Clip Browser but gives media error in camera…Are you able to manually import the file into Browser? Highlight a location in the Explorer window (e.g. ‘desktop’), then File–>Import and browse to the .mp4 in question. If that fails, can the file be rewrapped to .mxf? Right-click–>Export–>MXF for NLE.

January 27, 2014 at 4:23 pm in reply to: QuickTime Won’t Play XDCam EX Footage After ProApps Codec “Update”I tested over the weekend and it did not break my Snow Leopard system. Still waiting on a confirmation that this version fixes the issue with update 1.0.3. Curious to see what other users report.

2.2 does not officially support Mavericks yet– were you running Lion or ML prior to the upgrade?
-
Noone in the US support office would have told you that and I strongly advise you not to upgrade from below 1.05. This is not a new policy nor is it an arbitrary one.

Are you in the states? We do not send out the firmware unless you are at 1.05 or higher. Please do not try to update your camera. You run the risk of rendering it inoperable.

January 20, 2014 at 4:39 pm in reply to: Have I corrupted my EX1 clips by downloading them the wrong way? It’s more than likely that your clips are ok, especially if they play back normally in Browser and from the camera. It is possible to damage the clips in the process of handling the data but this is not likely if you used Browser to do the transfer (especially if the verification function was enabled). Check them in another editor if you can. You may also want to reach out to Adobe or else re-install/update Premiere. If the clips play back ok in Browser from where they are currently stored it’s unlikely that the issue is with the drive the clips reside on or the system as a whole. If you’d like us to take a look at them feel free to contact our US support office at 800 883 6817 / bis.product.support@am.sony.com .

Check your current version first by going into the extended menu (press menu + menu wheel + cancel–>IF menu–>VERSION). If you are at 1.05 or higher contact support and they will provide the firmware update. If you are below 1.05 the camera has to be updated by Sony. You can reach support at 800 883 6816 or bis.product.support@am.sony.com .
