I’m not really sure bout how ur patching works…I do patch my FCP using blackmagic decklink to the DigiBeta…and the only experience for me to see the video skipping downwards slowly is the setting on the beta deck

It is set to “Ref Video” …which should be set to “Input Video”

    hope this helps.

    good luck

  • [nelsonmay10] “I have been on sets for the past two weeks as well as shooting and I am brain dead. Sorry for the rookie question, but

How do I make sequences and rename clips after rendering the whole tape. I am trying to work backwards for good bookeeping on a large edit.

I also can’t get my video and audio clips to link so Ithey don’t separate when moving them around.

Again I am brain dead, and any help would be appreciated.”

To make sequences, just click Apple-N or Cmd-N…i love to call it apple..flows better in my sentence.

You could actually rename the clips in the Browser after u’ve imported the clip…but if you need to re-connect the media, it just doesn’t trace back to the original clip because it uses the clip name that you’ve renamed in the browser.. hope you get that.

If i may suggest, u keep the original media as it is…( the whole tape ? – uncut ) and import it into FCP…seperate them into different sequences…like one sequence is just a fighting scene or “Scene 1” depends how u wanna categorize it.

and from there you can export it out to their own respective clips with their own name.

Linking could be a mess. I’ve had my share of problem.

    Here’s the workaround.

To link audio and video – hit Apple-L and you’ll see the clip name will have “underlined” names.
note: link…and not group. it doesnt link when u pull Video A to link with Audio B…it’ll link back to Audio A
    and when it’s ou

When u find yourself pulling the video off from the audio…

hit Shift-L for Linked Selection. It should snap your Video and Audio to be pulled together.

To unlink the stereo Audio… is Alt-L

    sorry for the long explanation.

    good luck

One that I could think of on the go is…to have 2 layers of the same footage.

Place some effects via color correction, tint, sepia to acheive the effect of red or yellow to your taste.

Cut it up or rather chop it up…where the shortest one is a single frame…you should be able to get that flashy effect.

You might wanna try to reduce the ocpacity to 50% – 60% so it doesn’t look too “horror like”– to tone it down 😉

You could also try to shift the center of the footage that contains the red effect thing. So it sorta looks like a film went out of alignment…

    good luck!

    Kevin,

Yep…you’re right..the settings you mention would be optimum setting to edit with.

i must agree but in my scenario…it’s a little different 😉 we work around it somehow.

if I could set up with all exteral monitoring…i would when the budget arrives for better equipments

    cheers,

    Hey..

Rob really gave u a deep indepth list to fix it…but i’d just like to share my part of opinion

My suspect about this is that your Audio Video Settings are set wrongly. it’s under Final Cut Pro – Audio / Video Settings.

Make sure that the Audio Playback is on Built In Audio or Default…and it should play just fine from your g5’s internal speakers…juz plug your speakers to the earphone jack.

If you’re connecting your g5 to an external deck, just apply the setting accordingly to match the deck…if you use Firewire to connect your g5 to the deck, the audio shall be Firewire DV…it only appears when the deck is connected and powered On.

    good luck

  • I’m not so sure about the video that u captured matches the sequence…

if you pulled the footage you captured into the sequence, and it doesnt require render that means the sequence matches the footage…

Usually in my sequence is DV 5:4..when i put ccir 4:3, it distorts…and could it be anamorphic 16:9 is on?

    good luck

not sure if this is too late, but it could be your Video Playback is on external mode…

check your Audio Video settings. and turn off External Video [ON] (apple-F12) default

    cheers
