Hi Walter,
Thanks so much…
So appreciate.Ok, realized i should not have been rendering at 32 bits. It should have read ‘current settings’. Plus 8bit is fine for our broadcasting I’ve just been informed, so that is easy.
Walter: “The best place to set your project to 32bpc is not in the render settings, but rather in the project settings (Cmd+Shift+Opt+K) or by alt-clicking on the depth indicator on the bottom of the project panel. By changing the depth in the render settings off of “Current Settings” you were telling Ae to preview at one depth and render at another, with critically different rules for how math works.”‘>
Oh boy…I can see that now…fixed that. Thanks for all these great points.
Walter: “You might enable multiprocessing. 16 GB isn’t a lot of RAM for Ae, but it’s enough that you could run a couple of background processes to help speed up your renders. In your Memory & Multiprocessing settings, leave at least 4-6 GB free for other applications, and use a minimum of 2 GB for each background renderer.”
OK, set it from 0 to 6GB free for other applications
and it is already set to 3 GB for each background renderer (I have 8 cpu’s – 8 core)What do you think? Or maybe I have this all wrong…?

What do you think?
I so appreciate. For Previews I have this, what do you think?

Thanks again so much for all your time…really is so helpful. What good fellows you all are to help us.
Warmly,
Hope__________________________________________________

Ok, thanks for asking, Walter, not using any color management
BUT…since u asked that, i realized when looking at the effects on that comp (layer) that the pipeline maybe messing it up…and sure enuf, I had
Trapcode glow
‘levels’
‘HueSaturation’when i moved the ‘glow’ to the bottom, upon rendering it didnt do that….
hurray…however, i feel tricked, that AE didnt reveal that in the timeline preview.
doesnt the preview usualy tip you off in these things?do you think it is because I am running ad cs5.5 in mavericks?
thanks again…warmly,
HopePS….i dont ever use my 16GB of ram to process anything in AE…it only uses about 6GN at the most…
I feel something must be wrton?

September 29, 2014 at 10:40 pm in reply to: Stretching when exporting from Media Encoder 7.1, 7.2Hi Jonathan…thanks for the input / reply. You were right on la point. (-:
Very kind of you to write all this out. I found your post here when having this stretching problem. Your great attention on this has really helped. it inspired me to try some different output settings in fcp for QT. My settings in the output module for fcp, like you say where checked ‘anamorphic’ which in fact the video is not anamorphic.
Now I am getting the right readings and no stretching in ame. Hurray…thanks to you.
Working w square pixels, wide screen (standard def) 1024 x 576, PAL. the movie looks like that, but then info was reading that the size was 1456 x 576.
Have now fixed that situation as above.
Hope you have a fabulous day !
Thanks again soooo much,
Warmly,

September 29, 2014 at 6:01 pm in reply to: Stretching when exporting from Media Encoder 7.1, 7.2hi
has this only started happening since installing Mavericks on a mac?
mine is doing that toodidnt ever do before when i was running it in snow leopard.
also noticed if you quit it, and restart it, sometimes it stops doing that….sometimes.does it on my photo jpegs that i export from fcp7.
those videos that I export from fcp 7 (exported as a qt conversion photo jpeg), the actual size of the exported video is correct when viewing just on the screen, but when I look at the ‘info’ it reads that it is very wide. The info reads that it is not the size that i asked to be exported. (even tho looks like it)
That video, when taken into ame stretches out….
other qt photo jpeg exports that i made from aftereffects did not do that: info reads correctly, and goes into ame properly.
so that i my experience….hope it helps you.if u have any ideas on my thing….great.
what do you think?
warmly,

Hi Nick…thanks so much for answering…
very kind for replying…
I have Compressor, so used the QT Apple Pro Res (Proxy) as it was going to make the smaller file (still made the file 2.5 x larger than the orig mpeg2.)
When dragging that pro res file into fcp7 was asked to change the sequence settings, so did.
Did come out quite nicely…thank you so, so much.
Thanks for the sd vs ws explanation too…
The only mystery to me now, is what codec should i use to compress it for the web, once I have output it from fcp using ‘current settings’ (QT, not QT conversion).
Also, the resulting video from fcp even tho pro res 422 is showing as qt icon in Mavericks, not the actual video icon.
which only opens in qt7, not qtx
……..Mavericks has made things a mysterynot sure why that was happening either.
thank you again for your great insight and prompt help. greatly appreciate Nickwarmly,

Hi Todd,
Thank you for your attention…and for replying…very kind of you.Well, I just wanted to post a video to facebook, say, perhaps as a .mov, or whatever extension would be appropriate, and have the movie just keep replaying….sort of like a gif. just a short 7 sec video.
I keep remembering that check box in Cleaner that allowed you to compress a movie that would loop.
That is why I have hope. What do you think, dear Todd?
Warmly,

hi…just tested the:
png, jpg 2000 and apple prores 4444the jpg is the smallest file, almost 5 times…
2MB vs 8.9MBthe prores warned that colors would be reduced.
the jpg did not, however since it is a smaller file, probably did reduce the colors, but it is not showing.however, in the new mavericks OS for mac, if you use jpg2000 or png, you will not get a video preview, nor w an animation codec.
only the apple prores 4444 allows that, until someone comes up w a fix for that.
very sad…

hi guys, thanks for all your help always
…just wondering…
if you have a flame movie w a black bkg. can you render it w rgb+alpha and get a movie w the black bgk of the movie changed to alpha?
or
do you have to apply an unmult or screen to the layer then render it rgb+alpha , with the comp bkg blk, to actually get alpha?thanks so much.
