When you made the changes
Were you monitoring properly?
And, was your canvas set to 100%?If you looked at a resized canvas and don’t use a monitor, some motion attributes might look distorted.

try to work with H.264 videos from your iPhone, on FCP or AVID, on a strong workstation, you will see it choke your system. while an iPhone’s tiny processor and minimal RAM deals with it smoothly…

I think QT is a container/wrapper and a platform, not a video format. But this is confusing terminology at times

it would make much “apple” sense to have some sort of new in-app plugins store
if done right, it could be a very cool and useful addition to FCPX.

i wouldn’t SD the project
unless very limited in HDD space
working in DNX36 would take 800 GB for 50 Hrs of footage and work smoothly on any system (just to compare 50 hrs of DV are 650 GB)
you’ll also have good looking offlines.. in full raster HD
you could probably do the SD 15:1 thingy too…
to relink… this is how i do this
1. make a copy of your final sequence and place it in the AMA bin (from the other answer i gave you)
2. hide your media folder, project and sequence should become offline
(i believe this is not required, i find it to work better)
3. reconnect the HDD with the Prores files you linked AMA to
4. select all the clips in the bin and your sequence
5. right click your sequence and click “relink”
6. chose “relink to selected clips in bin” and “relink AMA…”
7. make sure its “all available drives” and relink
8. now your sequence should link back to original media
9. exhale🙂

you know… i’m not involved in this, personally or professionally, nor i know anyone from ripple…
but my logic and common sense feel somewhat offended
i mean…
hackers broke into my server, they could still FCPX but they took a tutorial, they could publish the whole tutorial, but they chose to take out some random screen caps from it… strange hacker.
because if he is a hacker, and hiding behind a false name then why would he care? why not publish everything he stole… what difference would it make at that point?
to me this just looks like plain old, bad-employee case which you could maybe interpret as a “hack”, if you were trying to throw away responsibility.
again. this does not take away from how great and cool ripple training is…
or how nasty stealing is
just felt the “bad hackers stole my stuff” thing wasn’t completely in place

Former and probable future Avid user, DR”i’m not Avid… but I’ll try to answer some of your points… at least to my knowledge
CMX600, lucasfilm’s EditDroid, quantel’s Harry and… the EMC2 editor
all these came before Avid…and had NLE capabilities (you gotta love wiki…)
so Avid didn’t invent NLE… they rather packaged it nicely and sold it better than other’s did.avid or apple and probably Adobe too can’t really afford to give free phone tech support. if you think people are smart and won’t abuse it, you are just wrong, and you probably never gave phone support to groups before. i can tell you from experience that even when its paid support it gets annoying, and the client becomes addicted very fast… and that was one TV channel.
oh… and the dongle went the way of the Mohicans about a year+ ago
had some more points, but no more time.. 🙂

the AMA creates a master clip/media file relationship, so when you are done editing with your transcoded DNX36 you can RELINK (right click) your sequence only
to the original AMA linked files (as long as they are available)i do it by placing a copy of the seq in the AMA files bin, select all of the AMA clips and the sequence, click relink, make sure that “relink to selected items in bin” is selected, and also that AMA check-mark. sometimes i have to hide my Avid Mediafiles folder.
this comes in handy when working with DSLR or RED as you don’t have to transcode all of your footage to high DNX just your final cut

sounds a bit messy
not sure avid recognizes QT 2K, try linking to AMA first then transcoding to DNX36, if it does not work, import into a 1080 project and set import settings to DNX36.
if that doesn’t work either, you will have to transcode it externally…is all this just for tomorrow or are you seeking permanent solutions?
DPX can become Avid media files in metafuze (which is a free Avid tool, but you will have to run it on windows or bootcamp) it can make DNX36 mxf for you
as for the H.264 (HD i presume) link to AMA and transcode to DNX36
