My studio partner, who’s been using the app vigorously in past weeks says that the logic behind apple׳s omission of sync indicators is that you wouldn’t want or need to break sync in any plawsible scenario and if you do, then you probably don’t need sync anyway. I think it’s a bug. And if its intentional, its rather sad, should be fixed.

Way to get them back is compound clip them together. It’s in the manual.

i’m trying to understand…

if you link a spanned clip through AMA, select it and transcode it to DNX, then unmount the AMA drive, the new master clip still acts strangely?

try this

before you transcode to DNX185 rename the 1 folder in your MXF folder to any other number. this will force avid to write to a new media folder. when you are done transcoding, try working only with that media folder (hiding the others somewhere)

not sure, but if your MXF folder got messed up this might help, or at least worth trying.

i’m running through my archive trying to fine spanned P2 clips to test this out, never ran into this problem before… but also didn’t get to work too much with spanned clips

you should look at specs on Avid website, before posting a “does anyone know” question.

and the answer is no

MC currently supports Avid hardware, Matrox MXO2 mini and AjA io express

this might change in upcoming versions.

what you are describing is way to complex for an editor to understand or apply.. and anyway, who shoots film? why not work with a camera that’s supported by FCPX? i hear the GoPro is awesome 🙂

i assume you did notice you can choose 24 when setting a new project

it will probably be problematic on the way out and i don’t think its easily reversible, and definitely not cinema tools…

but as soon as we know how the new XML tools work and what 3rd party plugs will be available for EDL etc’ smarter workflows may be possible.

i always hoped that some new version of FCP will have a built in “interpret footage” option (and i still hope Avid ads one in)

That’s why its called same as source

It’s a rewrap, DV codec goes out of MXF and into QT, not encoding or compressing.

Are you exporting final sequences?
Or planning to consolidate?

but it makes it easier to have it open for other reasons too (turning on and off waveform on selected tracks is a blessed addition and lacking in FCP)

and simpler to control on which tracks you want keyframes

the timeline fast menu is sometimes a bit messy, especially for new users

have you tried arranging them how you like, then “save current” in the toolset menu, when on source record option?

it might not help with the startup thing, but will allow you to pop back to how you want it.

not sure about the other command you mentioned… it does sound cool though… maybe still hiding there. i’ll look for it
