    FCP uses Cinema Tools – what does Avid MC 5.5 use?

    Also, can you use DPX files natively with Avid MC? With FCP you needed glue tools. (and with FCPX it seems you can’t use DPX at all)

    Avid comes with Filmscribe. read about it here:

    as for DPX

    there is an Avid PC only, free tool called Metafuze

    Film tracking and pulldown removal are built into Avid. To generate lists, you use FilmScribe. I’ve always appreciated the Avid way of dealing with film, because you can see your Keycodes and edge numbers right in your editing interface without having to go to another app.
