Yes, it really is a matter of your needs. Can you make back your $ in a few months? If so the do it now, and re-up when the time comes. If you are buying for fun – then a machine you can buy now should more than do the trick… we use a dual 2 gig G5 and it still does everyhting we need.

My thinking is that even if the new intelmacs come out this summer I would not want to own one of the 1st off the line. A rumor site somewhere has them comming in time for X-mass, if thats true I would wait till a few months later to shake all the bugs out…. of the hardware & the universal software.

Have you actually pulled the RAM out and test the computer with 1 chip at a time? Sometimes the tests do not tell it like it is.

I would not do either…. but if I had to choose, I’d go with the back grill… just use a drill with a vacume attached.

My guess is that its Dec. 31st. if it is and its not the battery (which it probably is) then its a PAIN…. I had that issue on a G4 a few years ago… lets all hope the battery is the fix.

Sophos Software has some info on its site

that seems to suggest that one of the side effects is that it can delete some files. This is the 1st and only place I’ve seen this info…

Also re: downloading – dont take any thing like this over iChat (or other chat apps) as this seems to be one of the ways it spreads.

I’m running 10.4.3 on 3 machines (all dual G5’s) with no problems. Also 10.4.4 is out now.. but I’m not gonna make that move quite yet.

Lack of Dual Layer DVD is a serious issue. Also it will be interesting to see how Apple handles the endless speed bumps & price… seeing as how other companies are already offering faster dual core PC laptops with more options.

FW800 would be nice.. but don’t really care. Dual Layer DVD – THAT I care about… also back on the OT… the loss of the P2 ability is a major bummer…
