Barry: I just got back from a client today in Charlotte, NC that I shoot for. I did a shoot for him about 3 weeks ago and since he already was deep in to G5 FCP I talked him into upgrading to 5.4 in able to edit the footage I shot with the HVX. So I take the camera and with the cards and getting all the setting set to the fw mode.(hey I’m use to usb) everything went smooth. His editor brought the footage into the timeline and, then I ask for her to preview the footage, she say I will have to render it. then he ask. When I get the final edit how do I get it back to HD. Then I take him and the editor over to my laptop with Edius Broadcast and show him the export to P2 and real time playback and he ask why don’t FCP do this. I say. Call Apple. I love the Apple system I still use FCP for some DV projects But HDDVCPRO.I use Canopus Broadcast.

No need to wait. Canopus Broadcast supports the following. Canopus HQ 1080/50i, 720/25p and 576/25p. How do I know . I just went to my laptop with Canopus Broadcast and low and behold it was there. I have the HVX 200 and have been an Edius Broadcast for 6 weeks now. This is my choice of editing with the HVX 200. I can capture directly to the laptop 200 g raid 0’s in DVCPRO HD 1080/60, 720/24p.and all the other formats listed on the HVX 200 list So far I’v only done a test of 30 min. It worked without a hic-cup. In the morning. I will be shooting a 1 hour live radio/live music and expanding to 1 hour. This will be shown on our local Cable,Public Service

  • My clients can preview the HD from the timeline on the Canopus Broadcast NX Desktop. I believe at the present that Canopus is the best workflow for the . I am a previous FCP user but when I purchased the FX1 HDV I purchased Edius NX and then upgraded to Broadcast just before I bought the HVX 200. I believe its the only system at present that can export a project back to the P2 card.
Ther are some cards you can add to your Apple to get the HD out I believe AJA is one.

I shoot The HVX in DV mode for certain jobs. Shot in 460/24p Cineform D Mode. The Quality is outstanding. To my eyes and some of the folks that have seen this compared to the FX1 shot in HDV and transfered to DV. I am in the editing stage of a shoot for Tyson Food and they are well pleased with the results of the DV footage.

March 16, 2006 at 3:11 am in reply to: Overcrank Quality?

Just got back from a 14 hr shoot in Brevard NC, I shot approxamately 12 min of footage and it was all overcrank, 60 frames. This was for GE. The product was Lexan. Shooting a 2×4 out of a homemade cannon, fired by compressed air. The cannon was built from pvc pipe and looked like a homemade potato gun. They first told me I had to set up behind the Lexan, and get a shot comming straight at the camera. I said ok, but this a $90,000 varicam and if the 2×4 hits the camera. YOU PAY. So this shot did not happen. I took a 24″ Dell mon, and when we shot the first take we previewed the shot. when the rep from GE saw the playback she was realy impressed, and thats when you know you can get the job done. When we arrived they didn’t know they were going to get this slow mo shot. When I told them I could do it. They were impressed from the start. And so was I.
So fellows add this as another selling tool to the list of things you have to offer.
Sorry if what I said donn’t sense but hell I’m one tired ass old Fart. Gonna go talk to 15 year old Glen Levitte.(Bottle)

You can delete the selected clip without a re-format.
If you read the manual it will tell you how to do this.

    March 5, 2006 at 1:26 pm in reply to: 24PN or 24p??

” Very clever, but it’s really intended to work with 1080/24p original, which the HVX200 does not produce (it’s actually 1080i/60 with 3:2 pulldown”

So you are saying. When I go to the recording menue and select 1080/24p in my HVX 200 I’m shooting in 1080/60?.
