    Hey all,

anyone have any opinions on the miniDV quality of the HVX? Im in no rush to invest thousands of dollars at this stage until the competing recording devices are in the market and evaluated and as I will be outputting SD initially i wondered if anyone had compared the HVX with a DVX, PD170 or equivalent?

A number of people have claimed that HDV downconverted to DV is superior to DV, Anyone got an opinion on DVCPRO 50/HD downconverted?

    Thanks all

Both are great- and superior to the DV cams you mentioned. Check through the board archives and you’ll find some specific discussions of the DV capabilties.

I shoot The HVX in DV mode for certain jobs. Shot in 460/24p Cineform D Mode. The Quality is outstanding. To my eyes and some of the folks that have seen this compared to the FX1 shot in HDV and transfered to DV. I am in the editing stage of a shoot for Tyson Food and they are well pleased with the results of the DV footage.

I would also like to say that I Edit with Canopus Broadcast. Sure is nice to be able to transfer back to the P2 card from the timeline.
