It uses a similar connector, but it is not OHCI compliant. End of story.

DVStorm has no OHCI firewire connector, get rid of it. Use OHCI compliant firewire or you ar in for a lot of trouble. You could use the DVStorm very effectively as a doorstopper.

You may if you follow my suggestion. If that does not work, retake appears your only option, based on what you indicated. You could try Sclive to capture, maybe that works better than PP.

“I capture the footage in LP”.
What application is that? This is the Premiere forum. If you mean you are recording in Long Play mode, the only way – maybe – it to capture from the same camera it was recorded on, otherwise you will have problems with sync. LP is far more troublesome than SP, so in the future only tape in SP.

Downrezzing from HDV to SD-DVD gains significantly from de interlacing, at least with material from the FX1/Z1. Either de interlace on export with AME or apply it to the sequence. See if that helps. I found that very beneficial.

Both exporting to AVI and to DVD entail downrezzing to SD. That’s why you take a quality hit. Apart from your workflow, exporting your TL back to HDV tape, there is currently no viable solution to keep quality at HDV level.

This may be a workaround for the subclip delay:
Create each sub-clip from the MASTER CLIP in your project panel, start by double clicking on the clip and bring it into your SOURCE monitor, scrub around and set your IN and OUT points. Then right click on the source window or use the Clip pull-down menu to “Create a subclip” and give it a unique name. Then right click again on that subclip in your source monitor, or select “Edit Subclip” from the Clip pull-down menu, and from there, check the “Convert to Master Clip” box and click OK.
