That is the reason for the 1333 FSB, 8 GB RAM, 8 disk Raid5 on the 1230.

Depends on your budget. If budget is not a serious constraint, I would look at a configuration like this:

    1. Chassis: Supermicro CSe-745tq-r800b
    2. Mobo: Supermicro X7DAE
    3. Processors: 2 Intel Xeon 5345 quad core CPU’s
    4. Memory: Kingston KVR667D8F5K2/2G (2x)
    5. Video: PNY Quadro FX1500
    6. Raid: Areca ARC-1230 V2 1GB
    7. Boot disk: WD Raptor 1500AHFD
    8. Storage: 8x Seagate 7200.10 SATA-2 500 GB in Raid5
    9. DVD: 2x NEC AD-7173

That gives you some room for the future, albeit at a cost.

All you need is a simple OHCI compliant firewire card and you can get video on an external monitor through firewire as well. Stay away from capture cards.

Probably you have stereo tracks in your project and you want to put mono tracks in the time ;ine as well. Does not matter since the output will still be as you set up your project. I would not worry about it, continue editing and export.

    By doing the following steps:

    1. Start Premiere Pro
    2. Open your project
    3. Make the time line active
    4. Select the clip you want this effect on
    5. …..
    6. …..
    7. …..

Read the help file or the manual if you can’t figure this one out.

Use Fill Left or Fill right to effectively make a copy of the left channel to the right channel or the other way around.

MPEG1 or 2 or 4? What size, multiplexed, audio format, from what camera, and what do you want to do with it? Just a couple of questions to understand what you are trying to accomplish.

BTW, MPEG is not really suited for editing.

Please stop shouting and do a search. This has been discussed extensively.
