Backup to HDD is far cheaper than DV tape. A one hour DV tape is around € 5, or 0,38 per GB, a HDD is around 0,11 per GB.

For broadcast you have to use XDCAM as a minimum, no HDV. It is not accepted.

How did you establish that there is a discrepancy of a 1/2 frame? Video is recorded as 25 PAL or 29,97 NTSC frames. There is nothing in between. You can only move in whole frames.

I have two firewire cables connected, one is permanently connected to a DV deck, the other lies on my desk, so I can connect any camera for capturing. Obviously, all DV material is captured with the deck.
If you need more firewire connectors, you could install either a PCI card with 3 x 1394A, or a PCI-X card with 1 x 1394A and 2 x 1394B connectors. However, with the hot-swappable disks I don’t think that is necessary.

Ron started with a 10 GB AVI, which he compressed to WMV prior to editing. He should edit first and then convert the result to WMV. Much better result and much smoother editing.
