FCP slows down as the project file grows in size. Multicam makes huge project files pretty fast. I would try breaking up your sequences into seprate projects if possible.

Read this:
To get to the file you want to hack:
control click the FCP icon and select “show package contents”
go to contents/resources/english.lproj/FXScripts/Enablers
back up “RT Software Enabler.txt” and then edit the original
Hopefully FCP 6 will lose this stupid photo jpeg limitation.

Does the fact that it’s an RGB codec insted of YUV affect the quality? I believe I’ve tried exporting quicktimes of the same sequence as uncompressed and photojpeg and when I brought them back into FCP there was a noticible difference in gamma and/or color betweeen the two.

A litle bit of black tape covers the dell logo nicely!
BTW no problems with the 2405 here. I think this is all rumors, especially if it started from people blaming actual droped frames on the monitor – not some kind of skipping frames on the dell display only.

I think I read somewhere that someone was able to use firewire machine control while capturing over component with HDV. Personally I would do do the conversion in software.

Using the firewire connection would probably give slightly better quality.
