hi Michael,
maybe we missunderstood each other. My source footage (riped from the DVD) has “lower field first”. Or maybe I have a basic understanding problem about how to handle field dominance in general.
As I already have “lower first” (in my mpeg PAL file) I thought it would be best not to change that because if you do so …. jittering must be the result. Is that not correct?
Im my case I want to output to mp4 and field dominance is not really that important, because I will screen on computer monitor. but I want to understand the whole thing better, that’s why I am asking.

hi,
I chose h.264 because it will be the format I will output to. I thought if I output to it anyways I can make live easy with small files while editing aswell.
But It seemes to be a little sticky in playback in the viewer for example. is that a known h.264 issue? -
So, you mean I should change the dominance (source has “lower first”), right?
Appears strange to me to be honest, but if thats the way to go….thx

hi paul,
checked mpeg streamclip, but only get the field dominane info for mpeg files. For Quicktime files (no matter which codec) it’s not diplayed.

I would be happy to know there is a morphing effect at all…. Is there?
Do I just don’t know about it? Maybe some 3rd party plugin….cheers gk

hi,
>> If you’re having trouble, try opening using a different method than what you usually use
what could that be?
normally I would
a) doubleclick on project icon or
b) >file >open project2) what about interchange between MAC and WINDOWS projects? is there any trouble waiting?

hm, as I remember also processing in Compressor the cpu graph (utiliys>activity monitor) shows only half power activity.

hi Sean,
you might be right that it would have taken me less time to try out then you tiping.
But therefore I would have needed to have the MAC available (which I don’t) before I actually have to start editing.
Sencondly I got some very usefull statement about rather exporting to a reference Quicktime, then to “send to Compressor” directly. So I’d assume to me and maybe other people who might read this thread asking that thing was usefull…. Thanks for the comments.

hm, thats a hint, but not exactly what I was looking for.
I’d like to have something like a line for the soundlevel (in the timeline), as you have for each clip in a track, but one single line for the whole track. Then I want to ad keyframes there and adjust the up and downs.
Is the Audiomixer the only way to do it?
thx …Gunnar

yes, you are right. Such an easy task. Thank you
