I am using FinalCut Studio 2 and noticed that when rendering or processing a file the cpu usage of the 8 cores in my current machine mostly is around half.

Can anybody tell me why the MAC doesn’t really use all his power? Or am I on a wrong track here? Any comment is highly welcomed.

    cheers …gunnar

The Mac itself can, however FCP currently cannot. Compressor however will use the full potential of the machine.

hm, as I remember also processing in Compressor the cpu graph (utiliys>activity monitor) shows only half power activity.

Probably because you haven’t set up Qmaster to utilize the all the cores of your processor.
