I want to trimm (using a ripple edit) in my Timeline (FCP 6.0.2).
I expect that the Audiotracks of my clip are edited simultaneously
with the Video (as long as I don’t unlink them).

But that doesn’t happen. No matter if Video and Audio are linked or not
only the selected item is affected by any trimming causing either big gaps between the Audioclips or audio and Video going out of sync.

The exact same thing happens with the blade tool. Only the highlighted
    object is cut into pieces.

What is the error here? I already tried some checkboxes in the Settings but without any succes.

Linking has to be turned on for this to work as you’d like. It’s the button that looks like a figure 8 on the top right corner of the timeline window.

    Hi Jerry,

So in addition to Linking being selected in the menu, the figure eight in the window also has to be selected?

Why would you have (or use) two linking controls?

    Thanks!

They aren’t the same exactly. CMD+L will force a link or defeat a link (the menu item). It’s used to force a link between audio and video where the audio didn’t come from the same clip the video came from.

Where linked selection (the button or shift+L) will temporarily break a link so you can do things like split edits, or remove video or audio that was linked separately from each other. Then turning it back on will turn the linking back on.
