I agree with all the above, but will chime in with one reservation:
On the HVX you could shoot DVCPRO 50, which basically gives you all the DVX has + better colorspace/less compression for post (and a native 16:9 chip).
But the HVX is a different beast to work with altogether.Gunleik

Nope. One extra generation loss to no good use.
Let Compressor handle the task (or some other mpeg2-encoder.)

You could very well be in serious trouble. Sounds like your disk might be dying.
But there is help – or most often this might help:
Get Disk Warrior from alsoft.
Run this on your dying drive. (More often than not, it will get you back up)And:
Buy a new drive and back up all your data!Good luck!

The “.dv” extentiom is prtty scary, as the firestore does indeed record DV RAW stream. Hope you didn’t do that!
