    Thanks for the info, John.
They’re so new there’s none out yet!

    I could afford a 23″ BM series…
Still 8-bit, but I can tell you Dreamcolor exhibits banding too.

The problem is FSI doesn’t have any representatives in Europe… Shall I go for a SONY OLED??

  • Hi guys, I’m experiencing same issues here!

I opened another thread asking if ArtistColor users are happy with its performance under Resolve, seeing the lag issue hasn’t been adressed with this new driver release…

    What’s your experience?
To me it is beautiful and runs really fine with other softwares, but I’m about to give mine away 😉

    Cheers

    That’s my experience too.
But I can deal with it, i just move a bit faster 😉
To me, the real problem is the lag!

    I’m with Eric.

I tried plugging it straight to the ethernet port, or thru the Switch, and on a OSX reinstalled from scratch, and everything.

Whenever I move to a Quantel station I feel the speed of my thoughts manifesting in the image. With the MC Color+ Resolve I have to think in advance and look at the scopes way too much, I lose reference.

… Eric, maybe you are and me are the poor ones, although I doubt it.

Any othe pros using Avid Artist Color who are happy with it?

    Cheers 🙂

Sorry, the initial idea was to portrait that the new version of EUCONTROL not only didn’t improve the behaviour at all, but shows up to be terribly unstable, keeps disconecting the surface and I must restart the softwares for it to work…
Please do something or I’ll have to get a Tangent ELEMENT 🙂

March 18, 2013 at 4:55 pm in reply to: Candle test New IMAC late 2012/2013

Hackintosh with 2xGTX660ti + additional Nvidia for GUI:

    V01 04 blur nodes 24 fps
    V02 08 blur nodes 24 fps
    V03 16 blur nodes 21 fps
    V04 32 blur nodes 11 fps
    V05 64 blur nodes 6 fps
    V06 01 NR 2 nodes 15 fps
    V07 03 NR 2 nodes 5 fps
    V08 06 NR 2 nodes 6 fps

I’m considering an iMac… But after waiting 2 years for a MacPro, I’m about to switch to either Hackintosh or Windows to have real power.

    Thanks Rohit!

There’s a “Use sizing information from XML” check right-clicking on the clip at the Color timeline.

Pepijn, thanks for the info, but I’d rather not re-conform everything again.
Color-tracing timelines won’t keep the tracks and I had some TC issues with footages differing the project’s timebase that I already worked manually on, so the easy solution of the individual clip-sizing choice saves me a lot of time.

    Cheers 🙂

  • We’re about to purchase one, but Apple asks for 6 weeks.
Any one having good experiences with Hackinstoshs?
Please post the candle or other tests so we can all compare!
By the way, our 2011 iMac w/6970 does perform decently. Not able to face a propper MacPro but fine for work without a client (and no CUDA!)

I love the Epic, but for outdoors it can get tricky.
Soft clipping may help to gain some “roundness” on the peaks of the waveform.
I also lower the whites below 1023, leaving the brightest only for “superwhites” such as speculars or lights straight to camera…
Desaturating or tinting the highlights a bit may help too, when clipped they can exhibit weird hues.
