I don’t mind Premiere having that social panel, i really don’t.
However, I DO mind a bug that makes the multicam timeline play constantly even when you hit stop or a bug that constantly regenerates the thumbs in the bin. And there were many others or others…If these very obvious bugs live within the software for several versions and all you see is new social panels then I do mind it. That’s my main critique -
Thanks for sharing the article guys. We’re the original creators of the post at Viva La Zoom.
We were originally firm believers that the Creative Cloud would work for us. After 3/4 years down the line, we felt Adobe broke its original promise: ‘Pay a subscription and we’ll keep on updating the software. We’ll keep it clean, no bugs’
I was never a real user of the old Final Cut as I had always used Windows on our workstations however since we changed over to Apple, it came naturally to test FCPX. The only way I can put it really is that It works.
The real problem with Adobe is that they seem to focus on very silly flashy features like that new ‘Social media publishing panel’ https://blogs.adobe.com/creativeclou…-premiere-pro/
while the bugs that pushed us out of there are still there and as a result of that our productivity gets affected.
At the end of the day, we just want a solid piece of software that helps us get our work done, that’s all we need. -
thanks for your advice guys!!
Thats one of the reasons I’m loving FCP at the moment, so flexible. I think i’ll go down the library per wedding route. In terms of events, I’m not sure if i’ll use them at all as im organising my footage with keyword sets (so powerful).
Do you consolidate projects once you’ve finished them?thanks

ok, thanks guys

Thanks for the answer guys.
Most of the footage that we work with comes from various Canon C100 (avchd) and DSLRs (5D) so it’s all heavily compressed stuff. For The project that I just finished, I chose to work with the native stuff and I didn’t create any proxy or optimised media. I guess that i just wanted to test what FCPX could do first? All the footage lives on the WD RAID 0. And the media cache it’s on a SSD on an enclosure connected through usb 3 as well.
With these settings should I create proxies before starting to edit? Thanks

thanks for replying Angelo.
I tried your suggestion when i first had the problem as pointed out by PluralEyes support. it didn’t work. However I’ve been doing a bit of research and I just discovered a blog entry by Adobe announcing the PremierePro CS5.5.1 update. One of the points at the bug fixes section mentions:
“Projects created by importing Final Cut Pro XML projects that contain multiple mono clips would lose some audio when the project was closed and reopened.”
https://blogs.adobe.com/premiereprotrainingIt doesn’t mention the crash but I think this is exactly what my problem is as you have to import the Final Cut Pro XML file generated by Plural Eyes.
I guess the bad news is, I can only get rid of the problem by paying the upgrade to CS5.5. Damnthanks

thank you guys!
I think that I’m going to give Cameratracker a go. I think you can rent the program on a daily basis (had never seen something like that) and let you know how it works.
Dave- Yes, i’m dreading the moment that i have to start rotoscoping the singer. I was planning to do that within After FX, frame by frame? Any other super clever solution by saves me 1 week of my life?
cheers,

I came to Premiere from Vegas. I used Vegas 8 for a good while and I loved it. Especially how fast it is and fast learinng curve but the lack of sequences was a deal breaker for me. I just can’t live without them, I know that Vegas can nest projects but…..it’s not the same thing, it’s slow and it lacks a central media bin common to all the projects.
For me Vegas is great but Premiere is a bit more pro…and its understanding with AFX is beyond compare -
Hi John,
thanks for reply.
I’ve already downloaded your plugin trial, I’ll give it a try. At first sight, i can’t find one important feature;
Could i import and organize the footage/media within Vegas and then use an option for the plugin to recreate the media bins outside Vegas, do you know why I mean? At the moment i can only find the options to create ‘folders’, can Ultimate organize the actual media?thanks,
Guille
