A simple question: How many Premiere Pro CS5 users came from the Vegas Pro 9 camp? Why did you switch? In your opinion, pros and cons of each?

Why I ask? I’ve been looking for a new NLE and went with Vegas Pro 8. Worked fine on my XP 32-bit computer. Then I moved to WIN 7 64-bit and Vegas Pro 9 (9.0e) and it seems to crash way too often just placing clips on the timeline. So maybe I chose the wrong NLE to move to. That’s why I want to really compare the 2 before I switch or continue to try and get Vegas to work.

    Thanks for your opinion.

I came to Premiere from Vegas. I used Vegas 8 for a good while and I loved it. Especially how fast it is and fast learinng curve but the lack of sequences was a deal breaker for me. I just can’t live without them, I know that Vegas can nest projects but…..it’s not the same thing, it’s slow and it lacks a central media bin common to all the projects.
For me Vegas is great but Premiere is a bit more pro…and its understanding with AFX is beyond compare

    Guille,

Coming to Premiere Pro CS5 from Vegas Pro, how was the learning curve for you? Not knowing much about Premiere, do they have the same set up to where you can apply effects to an entire track as in Vegas? I like that you can add effects to the “event”, “track” or “project” in Vegas. Same in Premiere?

    Thanks.
