How many on staff are use to FCP? It offers much more bang for the buck than any Avid product today. If sticking with Avid stuff, you don’t need an adrenaline suite. Today a mojo offers more capabilities, ironic as that sounds. You may also find value in throwing one guy in an adobe room with Premiere Pro and After Effects. It depends on your clientele and workflow, really but there are many ways to save moola without giving up capabilities.
I’d think two mojo rooms for quickies and one nice FCP suite would take care of all editing, freeing up fundage for that 3D station you want.

Unfortunately it’s your normal day rate. You’ll never get more for toting gear and sleeping on a bus, although your really should.

start at 2k and go up from there. You’ll not find a tougher client than the mother of the bride. I once spent 18 hours shooting a gig then 4 daze posting it. The mother of the bride did not like the video. It was not from a production stand point, her beef was “Why does my daughter look fat!?” Now, I know I could have diplomaticly explained the camera adds 10 pounds but I wasn’t about to take blame for a decade of twinkies at night. I simply explained “because she’s really chubby and shoe-horned into a really tight white dress.”

Most of the time ppt files are created by folks with no broadcast beckground. This means illegal colors, fonts too small and overall bad design, more often than not. When using ppt files for braodcast, it’s best to look at them as a guidline for data… something to refer to as you create your own graphics for broadcast.

You can just use the default DVDit settings and click burn DVD, assuming you did not edit anything. If you have any precomputes, you stil have to mix it all down as Avid still shows bad interlacing in reference files.

Yes. Those are just opacity changes per layer (or bulb)
After you get the bulbs animated to your liking, you can precomp all of those layers and animate your animated logo as desired. -
I don’t know of a tutorial that just shows how to make a keyframe.
Import your graphic, throw it in a comp. Play around with that layer, adjusting it’s size, position, ect. In it’s layer properties you will see a little stop watch looking icon next to each perameter. Click it and you have set your first keyframe for that perameter. Scroll on down your time line and adjust this perameter either numericly or by draging your graphic in your comp window and it sets another keyframe. You’ll find basic 3d as an effect under perspective. -
It’s irinic that free email apps have spell check but an Avid still does not.

You’ll be far better off, quality-wise to have the editor remove those scaled effects in Avid, redo them in AE and give you the renders.

You’ll create it in photoshop or illustrator and clone the dots/bulbs onto seperate layers. You can then increase brightness, saturation and add a little glow to these layers and simply animate their opacity in AE. You can add glints and animated highlights the same way by layering what ya want and animating masks.
