recreating The Hangover Logo
Hey everyone,
I’m trying to recreate “The Hangover” logo that is seen in the trailers, see it here. It’s close to the end. I feel like I have the basic design correct but I am having some difficulty figuring out how 1 thing is done. I’m wondering to create the word “Hangover” in the logo. Any ideas how this is done? I tried using a cell pattern with a color overlay and the text in stencil alpha mode and that seems to get me close but i can’t figure out how to get the sections of the word to light up and all that goodness. You can see where I’m at in the image, mine is on top.

You’ll create it in photoshop or illustrator and clone the dots/bulbs onto seperate layers. You can then increase brightness, saturation and add a little glow to these layers and simply animate their opacity in AE. You can add glints and animated highlights the same way by layering what ya want and animating masks.

So each “bulb” is being controlled individually in AE?

Yes. Those are just opacity changes per layer (or bulb)
After you get the bulbs animated to your liking, you can precomp all of those layers and animate your animated logo as desired. -
Great! Thanks, I’ll give it a shot. Isn’t there some scale changes on the little circles too, or is it just me?
