If you want a really fast card go for the GTX 570. It’s much faster than the 4000. While not officially supported for the Mac you can find them on eBay that have been flashed to work with the Mac.

I’d look into the Nvidia GTX570. There is a company called MacVid Cards that flashes them to work in mac pros. They are supposedly faster than the Quadro 4000 and work great in the Mac Pro. You just have to download the Quadro 4000 drivers for it to work.

Yeah. I’ve tried just about every setting as well. Setting Audio to System Default seems to help a little but I still get silence and drop outs left and right. I have Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Pro 7 on the same system and do not have any issues at all with either one of them.

It seems to have helped some. I’m still getting much better playback on a 29.97 timeline than a 59.94 timeline.

I noticed something else a little weird. If I set up a sequence that is 720p 59.94 and playback prores footage that is 720p 59.94, I get jumpy playback and audio issues. If I create a new sequence that is 720p 29.97 and playback the footage that is 720p 59.94 everything works great and no issues. It does this with or without the Kona3 turned on.

I just did another test. I went from Premiere to Audition, then made an OMF. Gave it to my audio guy and he has able to open it in Pro Tools. The cool thing is that he created an AAF and I was able to open that in Premiere. I still am having issues exporting an OMF directly from Premiere though.

I think I’ve narrowed down the issue. When I’m in Premiere Pro CS6 and I open up a 720p 59.94 ProRes Clip in the Source Monitor it plays perfectly. When I drag it to my sequence, it starts to act wonky. The sequence I created was a Pro Res sequence and I drag the clip down to it and it asks if I want the sequence to conform to the clip. I click yes. This is the wonky sequence.

I created a second sequence and clicked no to the conform to clip and now my stuff plays perfectly. Not sure what’s going on , but I may have a temporary solution.

I’m having a similar issue where the audio drops in and out. I’m going to try and trash my prefs and see if that helps
