  • All good points Simon.

Multicam is both a blessing and a curse which can easily be abused due to how easy it is to edit multiple angles.

[Kevin Camphuis] “Now today i added some new footage of which a few time & hyperlapses (all JPEG images) and some FS7 files.”

If you’re working directly with the JPEGS instead of a rendered file you’re going to encounter a world of lag.

Here’s a tutorial showing the hyperlapse process for editing in Premiere:

[Bill Davis] “If Apple slow walks enabling my access to multiple card vendors on one hand – at least at launch – but keeps me financially safer on the other – at least for TODAY – I’m totally OK with that.”

So do I understand that you’re more interested in walled off access to your account info than getting the most for your money on your technology investments?

Bottom line is that Apple is limiting access not to account info but instead to the best component technology available in the marketplace and I would think that that would be a deal breaker for those looking to create the best possible computer systems for professional use.

I look forward to Bill’s positive spin on this that will inevitably include a statement that Apple is re-inventing the vendor relationship and that part of the forward thinking that Apple possesses is the complete abandonment of partnerships with industry leaders like Nvidia.

What will be the breaking point for Apple customers?

Your GH4 and GH5 records in long GOP which is CPU intensive. Transcode all of that material into an edit friendly format (pro-res or DNxHD/HR) and you will eliminate lag.

[Claire Mostovicz] “Once I was done editing everything (inside the nested clips), I saved the project, closed Premiere, and rearranged the folders with all the media.”

It’s unfortunate that you decided to rearrange your media folders. A general rule is to not change the originating media files once you begin a project. There’s no need to organize the media since it’s only relevant to organize it inside Premiere.

I’m not sure is there’s a way to get Premiere to see your time remapped clips correctly. You may have to manually relink each clip in your timeline and then adjust speed.

add your image to your post.

So you can’t step into the nest, select a clip and then select relink?

[Steve Connor] “The cost of having all the Adobe tools is so utterly insignificant in business terms that I don’t even think about what I do and don’t use.”

There seems to be a fair amount of amnesia here with people forgetting that NLE software used to cost real money. Today even the Adobe CC subscription is a nominal business expense.

Like Oliver, I too use several Adobe programs:

    Premiere
    Media Encoder
    After Effects
    Photoshop
    Illustrator
    Bridge
    Audition
    Portfolio
    Behance

I also make use of their stock footage library, design elements, cloud backup of projects and libraries for sharing branding guides (color specs, etc per client ) between After Effects, Premiere and Photoshop.

And I think this variety of offerings makes the subscription model a very reasonable cost of doing business.

Your idea of working in Premiere with thousands of hi-res still images will only result in endless frustration.

Todd is correct, use AE for the stills or be prepared for a lot of problems.
