[Herb Sevush] “I’m still working on it, will post something if I ever figure it out.”

Maybe just list the plugins that you use regularly. Without knowing which plugins are in your workflow it’s hard to determine if your problems will affect others.

  • Make cineform proxies or transcode all H264 footage to DNX, Cineform or ProRes. It’s really that simple. There is no other way if you want to use Premiere with maximum efficiency.

  • [Abraham Torna] “Moving to Resolve is an efficient solution, you don’t need to transcode anything, just drag and drop and start cutting, as the way they should be.”

Once again you’ve answered your own question.

  • [Abraham Torna] “my Sony a7III 4K files (mp4), 24fps”

You answered your own question. H264 is the culprit. Convert all H264 files to an edit friendly codec (Pro Res, DNX, Cineform) and your computer will return to a happy state.

[Tom Sefton] “I’ve seen tens of editors having to roll back because they can’t export anything at all”

    These are localized problems.

The vast majority of Adobe Premiere issues that get posted to online forums are system incompatibility related and not software bugs. The posters almost always think that it’s Premiere bugs triggering their problem but after further analysis of their system setup, storage, etc. many of these so-called “bugs” have nothing to do with Premiere itself. That’s not to say that Premiere isn’t riddled with bugs. It is. But it’s misleading to suggest that each new rollout of Premiere is a minefield of new bugs.

I’m currently working at a company with six edit suites all running Adobe CC and for the most part the main problems that have arisen are related to permissions issues on the SAN and not Adobe Premiere bugs. And I would argue that our situation is the norm and not the exception.

[Neil Goodman] “i cant figure out why the other 3 just dont copy Avids multiuser approach?”

I share your bafflement. When I worked for production companies that made series television, it was all Avid systems and the editors were able to work quite easily together on shows because of the fantastic multiuser function within Avid. This has been a feature in Avid for many years.

Why is this so challenging to implement in other NLE’s?

By mapping “select camera 1(2,3,4,etc)” to keys on your keyboard you can then switch camera angles easily in a timeline. This is done in the keyboard shortcuts menu.

I just added an angle to one of my multicams that has already been edited into a timeline and the added angle automatically gets turned on and can be switched to in my timeline through the keyboard shortcut that I have set up for cutting to each angle.

    I’m on Premiere 2020 v 14.0.0

  • You just haven’t stumbled onto the right info.

Select your pen tool, lasso the keyframes that you want to move, hold down shift while moving them and no volume will be adjusted.

Likewise if you want to adjust volume on multiple keyframes, select pen tool, lasso keyframes and then if you have “adjust volume up/down +/-1 or +/-3 ” mapped to your keyboard you can move volume up and down.

January 13, 2020 at 1:31 am in reply to: Incomplete srt

SRT files import based on the settings in the caption dialogue box. Check the import settings for your captions. Reset them to default settings if they’ve been changed.

Delete the SRT from your Premiere project and then delete the sidecar file that will be located in the same folder as your SRT at the finder level. Then re-import the SRT into Premiere.
