Hi Chris, you can get something similar by using shape lines on a black solid in an equirectangular (2×1) precomp. Add the CC Sphere effect (Shading: Ambient 100), keyframe the Y rotation. Make another equirectangular precomp which is half white and half black vertically. In your main comp place it below the first – add the CC sphere (Shading: Ambient 100), increase its radius so it’s slightly larger than the first and keyframe its Y rotation. I have a sample file I can upload, if someone can explain to me how to do it – I’ve looked at the File Upload Button but it’s unclear what it requires: Title?!

Hi Hussein, I’m confused too. What are the other masks for? To answer your actual question: On your top footage layer set your back windshield and back window (and any other masks that shows the new background) to Subtract. You should now have your footage with “holes” in it that you can see the new background through. Add the Tint effect to your background and it will become monochrome. Is that what you needed?

  • Hi Matayas, you could use the Liquify effect on concentric circles (which could be created by using the Radio Waves effect and saving as an image).

  • Hi Roy, draw another mask on the same layer – it will create a “Mask 2” under the layer’s Masks heading – set it to Subtract. I think that’s what you want?

  • Hi William. I suspect your problem is that you have a small mask area and a massive feathering of 635 pixels. Try pulling the feathering way, way back and increasing the Mask Expansion to see if that gives you what you need.

  • Hi Greg, put your cursor over the the 10s mark on the layer – click and drag at that midpoint (where the color changes) to the end of the layer. Sort of drag it to open up for the whole length of the precomp.

Hi Mark, the only way I know of doing it is ctrl+shift+H – but be aware that it turns off layer controls for all layers (bounding boxes etc.)

Hi Chris, it sounds like you are converting the Element layer into 3D and rotating it (?) which is simply flipping the existing image. You need to leave the layer 2D and use the camera to move around to the back – you may need to precompose it if doing it that way creatis other problems.

Hi Gigi, you could try using the Difference Matte effect if your shots were taken on a tripod

but I suspect that rotoscoping (the masks way) might be the most successful.

Hi Topher, it really depends on the look you are after. You could try keyframing the position of the Bulge effect, or create an adjustment layer, create a feathered mask where she would be, then use Turbulent Displace effect (though you might want to play with any of the Distort effects to see if there is something that gives you a look you like).
