Hi Warren,
Check out our Calibrated{Q} XD Decode – it should allow you to import the QT HDV MOV files in most applications.
https://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXD.asp
there’s a demo with watermarks you can download to try out.

Hi,
Did you go into the Library/QuickTime directory on your main harddrive (not the Library Directory in the user folder) and delete the CalibratedXDCodec.component and restart? That will remove the codec from your system. If you had rendered any of your XDCAM EX footage in FCE with the DEMO version then those rendered files would have the gray watermark ‘baked-in’ – not sure if that’s what you’re seeing.

I’ve never used the product but you could try Flip4Mac and render out a WMV HD file and play that on your Windows Laptop to the TV using Windows Media Player.

Anyway – just another option – good luck on your project!

Hi Clint,
When using Calibrated{Q} MP4-EX Import – we also don’t advise removing or altering the BPAV structure in anyway. Craig Seeman actually made short video tutorial on how to quickly import the MP4 files directly into FCP with Calibrated{Q} MP4-EX Import without altering any of the BPAV folder structure.

Hi,
Per Step 4 – you also need to delete the file
/Library/QuickTime/CalibratedXDCodec.component
– that’s the main Library folder on your ‘Macintosh HD’ not the Library folder found in your User directory.
and then you’ll probably need to restart.
After restarting you should be good to go – and you’re correct – after restarting, you’ll have to clear at any cached images that were generated with the watermark.

Hi Peter,
It seems you installed our Calibrated{Q} XD Decode for OSX DEMO at some point (that’s the watermark) – the uninstall instructions are in the ReadMe in the /Applications/Calibrated/Docs folder or online here:

It sounds like you installed our Calibrated{Q} DVCProHD Decode for OSX codec – and that its running in DEMO mode (based on your watermark description). You need to uninstall Calibrated{Q} DVCProHD Decode – in the ReadMe in the /Applications/Calibrated/Docs folder are the uninstall instructions – its also online here:

September 26, 2009 at 10:55 pm in reply to: Sending XDCAM EX 1080p30 footage to compressorHi,
If you have Calibrated{Q} XD Decode installed (which based on your description of the watermark – as well as writing that you installed XDCAM EX updates for FCP 5 – it seems likely you did) – If you have Calibrated{Q} XD Decode installed then uninstalling/reinstalling any other software will not fix the problem.
To clarify – does the pattern look like this:
“DEMO LIMITATIONS
Calibrated{Q} XD Decode will gray out the middle 1/3 of the video frame. The top and bottom thirds will also have 1 horizontal gray line and 2 vertical gray lines embedded in the video frame.”
If so – then you installed Calibrated{Q} XD Decode and it’s running in DEMO mode. To uninstall – manually, open up your ‘Macintosh HD’ – directly in your ‘Macintosh HD’ is the ‘Library’ folder. Open the ‘Library’ folder and then in that folder you should find the ‘QuickTime’ folder, in the ‘QuickTime’ folder you should find the CalibratedQXDCodec.component – is that there? If so, it needs to be deleted and then your computer restarted.
Cheers,
Greg
