    Hi,

If both PProCS6 and Content Browser 2.0.1 (or even earlier versions of Content Browser) can’t import the XDCAM EX MP4 files then chances are that the XDCAM EX MP4 files are slightly damaged (internally) as both those applications should import orphaned XDCAM EX MP4 files without any problems.

I think VLC can play damaged files alot better as it can skip over damaged areas.

    I hope that helps!

    Cheers

    Hi Lars,

If you’re trying to import XDCAM EX MP4 files into PPro CS6 then we don’t have software for that workflow.

You should be able to just drag-n-drop the raw XDCAM EX MP4 files into your PPro CS6 Bin as PPro CS6 should be able to natively read XDCAM EX MP4 files that aren’t in the proper BPAV folder structure.

Or you can download and install Sony’s XDCAM Content Browser and it can rebuild the BPAV structure of XDCAM EX MP4 files.

    I hope that helps!

February 5, 2013 at 2:54 pm in reply to: XDCAM EX Quicktime Movies Not Viewable on PCs??

    Hi,

Thanks for the interest in our software!

Yes, Calibrated{Q} XD Decode for Windows is a QuickTime Video Decode codec that will let you view the video in the XDCAM EX .MOV files on your Windows computer.

You can download Calibrated{Q} XD Decode for Windows here to try out:

    https://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXDDownload.asp

    DEMO MODE Limitation
Without a Software License, Calibrated{Q} XD Decode will run in DEMO MODE where a Calibrated{Q} XD Decode Logo watermark will be placed over the video. This is the only DEMO MODE limitation, everything else is fully functional. Using the software in DEMO MODE is for testing only, and should not be used for commercial purposes.

Please note that decoding performance depends on speed of your computer (CPU & harddrive) and the application that is using the codec.

Also, please note that TimeCode and Audio is not handled by our codec – all TimeCode and Audio functionality is handled between QuickTime and the application you are using.

You can email us at info [at] calibratedsoftware [dot] com if you have any questions!

    Cheers

June 19, 2012 at 12:28 am in reply to: Focus Enhancements FS-100 and QT

    Hi Phil,

Try the ‘Organize to P2’ function in the FireStore after recording – that should re-arrange the MOV files to P2 MXF files that PPro CS4 should import.

    https://www.focusinfo.com/dynassets/documents/products/FS-100v4.0_UserGuide%28MANL-1023-10%29.pdf

Basically, the DVCProHD MOV files that the FireStore is recording need a QuickTime DVCProHD Codec to open on Windows in QT Player and other applications that support QuickTIme(we sell one called Calibrated{Q} DVCProHD Decode for Windows). However I had thought that PPro CS4 understood most DVCProHD MOV files natively (i.e. without a codec) but I guess PPro CS4 doesn’t understand the DVCProHD MOV file format you’re recording in.

Also – the ‘Organize to P2’ would probably be your best option as

    (1) It doesn’t cost anything

    (2) The MOV files that the FireStore creates can sometimes have audio tracks in MOV files where the duration in the MOV files is reported as much larger than it should be (hence the audio ‘cutting out’ – which is not really the audio ‘cutting out’ but actually playing longer than it should). This is not a problem with FCP where FCP will truncate the audio length to match the video length but other applications don’t usually do that.

    Hope that helps!

    Greg

April 12, 2012 at 12:27 pm in reply to: UDF & Fat 32

    Hi Robin,

Sorry for the confusion – there’s no transcoding going on. When our import/decode codecs are installed and being used to decode the video – there’s a description information field that QuickTime asks for for just informational purposes – which we label with “Calibrated [whatever codec is being used]”. It’s just there for informational purposes and no transcoding is being done on the file.

Also I think UDF is a type of filesystem (like Fat32, NTFS, HFS+,etc) and not a ‘file’. And our software would not influence any download speeds as that would be handled by the operating system and external device you are downloading from.

February 22, 2012 at 1:42 pm in reply to: Blackmagic Shuttle DNxHD issue

    Hi James,

If you’re using Calibrated{Q} MXF Import with the BlackMagic DNxHD MXF files in Adobe applications then you should change the DNxHD Color Levels in the Calibrated{Q} MXF Import Options application to ‘Full Range’ since Adobe applications use Full Range RGB when converting YUV to/from RGB.

Here’s a link to the Calibrated{Q} MXF Import User Guide here. In the User Guide we go over how the Avid QT Codecs will encode/decode to/from RGB<->DNxHD422 with either SMPTE Range RGB or Full Range RGB, as well as what Color Level works best in different applications (like Adobe apps or FCP).

    I hope that helps!

February 19, 2012 at 7:37 pm in reply to: New HyperDeck 2.5 Beta software available now.

    Hi,

I believe the reason why the MOV file does not import into PPro CS5 is because of how the Audio Track is stored in the MOV file.

The Audio is stored as one Audio Track with multiple interleaved Mono Channels identified with QuickTime SoundDescription Version 2 – and it seems that PPro CS5 doesn’t understand this Audio format in a MOV file but PPro CS5.5 does understand this Audio format in a MOV file and can import the MOV file.

If the Audio was stored as one Audio Track per One Mono Channel identified with QuickTime SoundDescription Version 0 then PPro CS5 would probably import the MOV file fine.

    Hope that helps!

    Cheers,
    Greg

February 17, 2012 at 5:17 pm in reply to: problem displaying XDCam 1080i50 files

    Hi Carsten,

Correct – from the tests we’ve done here – where the large viewer window in CatDV shows the green/pink plaid over the video:

    1) Only XDCAM EX, XDCAM HD 35 Mb or HDV Interlaced video is affected (these are 420 encoded)

2.) XDCAM HD 50 Mb (progressive or interlaced) is 422 encoded and is not affected .

3.) XDCAM EX, XDCAM HD 35 Mb or HDV Progressive video is not affected.

4.) The issue is only present when either the 2.0 or greater Apple XDCAM Codec is used. If the v1.6 Apple XDCAM Codec is used then everything is fine.

    Hope that helps!

    Cheers,

    Hi Bo,

Cool – glad our new release can help out your workflow!

The new v2.2.0 release does have BETA support for BlackMagic Design DNxHD MXF files captured by HyperDeck devices. Also there is a new section entitled ‘dnxhd options’ in the Calibrated{Q} MXF Import User Guide that explains DNxHD workflows in applications (like FCP or AE/PPro) that use Calibrated{Q} MXF Import to import DNxHD MXF files. The section is a little long since we’re trying to fully explain in a simplified way a somewhat complicated workflow. I would strongly suggest reading over the section to see how to properly setup Calibrated{Q} MXF Import for any DNxHD workflow.

The ‘dnxhd options’ section could also help people working with DNxHD .MOV files too in FCP, as the section tries to explain the reasons for color shifts when using DNxHD in FCP. You can download the PDF User Guide in this link User Guide

February 5, 2012 at 6:37 pm in reply to: Avid DNxHD 720p

    Hi,

Actually , the latest version of the Avid QT Codec is v2.3.7 and you can download below

    https://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=423319&ssdFilterCommunity10=368&ssdFilter_SearchKeyWord=&Hilite=

I think if you upgrade to v2.3.7 it should fix the issue.

I just tried a 720p59.94 DNxHD FCP7 Sequence and it worked for me here.

    I hope the above helps!

    Cheers,
    Greg
