February 2, 2012 at 2:22 pm in reply to: Issues with Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 – Clipped chroma and lack of mxf viewerHi Anmol & Andreas,
We’re planning on releasing Calibrated{Q} MXF Import v2.2.0 soon – this will have BETA support for the BMD captured DNxHD MXF files. The current released version (v2.1.2) is not able to properly open the BMD DNxHD MXF files.
Also, the pricing is slightly higher on Mac than Windows.

January 27, 2012 at 9:53 pm in reply to: Importing AVC-Intra footage originally transcoded by FCP into PremiereHi Danny,
Our product Calibrated{Q} AVC-Intra Decode for Windows can help you out – you can download it here:
https://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QAVCIntraDownload.asp
In DEMO MODE, it’ll show product logo watermarks over the video but otherwise it’s fully functional.
Also we have a modified XML file that’s an Adobe CS5.0.3/5.5.0 Perfomance booster for our codecs and you can get that an the above link too (it works with our software in DEMO MODE too).
I download the MOV file from your link and it works fine here.
If you have any questions, you can email us at info [at] calibratedsoftware [dot] com

Hi Drew,
I think this PDF from Focus will explain the problem you’re having and possible solution:

Hi Ron,
Sorry for the problem – you can contact us at support [at] calibratedsoftware [dot] com and we can help you out.
If PPro is giving you that error then the problem may be that the Calibrated Software is not installed properly – thus PPro not being able to use QuickTime to open and decode the video – are you able to playback the MOV files fine in QuickTime Player on that computer?
If you email us directly we should be able to identify the issue and hopefully get you up and running fast.

Hi Ina,
The quality is exactly the same – basically XDCAM Transfer will re-wrap (but not convert) the XDCAM HD MXF or XDCAM EX MP4 files into XDCAM HD MOV or XDCAM EX MOV files. Thus the video/audio essence is not changed at all in the file rather XDCAM Transfer is just putting video/audio essence in a MOV file wrapper – and the actual decoding of the video is handled by the Apple XDCAM codec that comes with FCP.
With Calibrated{Q} MP4-EX Import and Sony Cinemon – these are QuickTime Import components that enable FCP and most FC Studio applications to ‘see’ the XDCAM EX MP4 file like a MOV file – the actual video decoding is also handled by the Apple XDCAM codec that comes with FCP so the video quality is exactly the same.
I hope that helps!

Hi Mike,
Sorry for any confusion. Calibrated{Q} XD Decode for OSX is a QuickTime Decode codec for XDCAM HD/EX & HDV .MOV files and is not meant for (and should not be installed on) computers with FCP – as FCP comes with the Apple XDCAM Codec.
The product of ours you’d want is Calibrated{Q} MXF Import for OSX:
https://www.calibratedsoftware.com/MXFImportDownload.asp
Without a Software License,Calibrated{Q} MXF Import will run in DEMO MODE where only up to 30 seconds of the media will be shown or half the media if media is already less than 30 seconds. This is the only DEMO MODE limitation, everything else is fully functional.
and you can always email info at calibratedsoftware dot com if you had any further questions.

Hi Rafael,
“Callibrated lets you edit those files, but you can’t expect the same RT performance than with any of the formats/codecs that can be edited native in FC.”
Since all of the decoding and playback is handled by FCP7 and the Apple Pro Codecs – then editing performance should be virtually identical to the performance of using a XDCAM EX MOV file.
Per the below posts:
https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/1118446
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2794282?start=0&tstart=0there can be other reasons why playback of XDCAM HD/EX MOV files playback so Edwin if you want to email me at info [at] calibratedsofware.com – I can help try to pinpoint the issue.

Hi Edwin,
Thanks for the interest in our software!
Per your issue – Calibrated{Q} MP4-EX Import for OSX does not actually playback or decode any video/audio in a XDCAM EX MP4 file – rather it enables FCP, FC Studio apps (except Color), QuickTime Player 7.6, CatDV and other applications to ‘see’ and ‘use’ a XDCAM EX MP4 file like a XDCAM EX MOV file – all of the playback in FCP7 would be handled by FCP7 and the Apple XDCAM Codec that comes with FCP7 – so I’m unsure of why you would be getter a jitter during playback in FCP7 – in fact when you’re playing back the XDCAM EX MP4 files via QuickLook (i.e. pressing SpaceBar in Finder) – that’s also using Calibrated{Q} MP4-EX Import to parse the XDCAM EX MP4 file and then it hands over the information to QuickLook to playback with the Apple XDCAM Codec, and likewise if you’re compressing the XDCAM EX MP4 file to a ProRes MOV file directly in FCP7 or COmpressor – then the sam ething would be happenning – where Calibrated{Q} MP4-EX Import would parse a XDCAM EX MP4 file and hand over the information about the MP4 file to FCP7/Compressor where they would convert the file to a ProRes MOV file.
I don’t know what could be causing a jitter during playback in FCP7 but you could always email us at info [at] calibratedsoftware.com and maybe we can help you get to the bottom of it.

Hi Jonathan,
To uninstall Calibrated{Q} XD Decode – please
1. Delete the Calibrated folder from the /Applications directory
2. Delete the CalibratedXDCodec.component from the /Library/QuickTime folder (please note that this is the Library folder on your Main Harddrive NOT the Library folder in your User Directory – and you must manually go to the /Library/QuickTime folder as SpotLight may not index the Library folder)
3. restart your computer
and that should do it – Step #2 is the most important part
Also – please be aware that Calibrated{Q} XD Decode is not meant for computers with any version of FCP installed.

Yep, Bryson, that’s the only workflow I can suggest as well. If you have FCP installed on the same Mac computer as ClipWrap – I believe ClipWrap also gives you the option to convert to ProRes MOV files.
