1. Yes plucg in an audio cable from their audio board to your camera. Most often it will be a line out feed that you’ll have to take as a line input into your camera. Don’t use Mic inputs. As others suggested, you’d be better off adding a wireless mic to the podium and plugging that directly into your camera. I would ONLY use the audio feed from the house audio board as a back-up. Put your wireless in Channel 1 and their feed in channel 2.
Please make ure you use good headphones to monitor your audio.
2. For B-roll get as much as you can of people listening to another speech. Smiling, laughing, writing notes, nodding, applauding, etc. Get variety…groups shots of listening, two shots, three shots, etc. etter to have these shots and not need them then to need them and not have them.
3. Every podium shoot is different. Change your framing by zooming in and out leave some headroom. Honestly, shooting an event like this is only for those who know what they are doing. It’s live TV…you can’t get the audience and speakers to come back again…you have one shot at getting this. if you can’t do it, back out now before it’s too late.

I really could use more suggestions. Also, I bought the Sonnet tempo 4×4 for my mac G4 will this work in a G5 Quad? Is there a PCI X versus PCI E difference? Thanks

My DVD recorder records DVD-R. I’ve never had a client tell me that a DVD does not play. For me it depends on the project and client. If I need to send a client a DVD for approval purposes, a DVD recorder is the way to go. If there’s a menu and authoring, then I choose Bitvice and DVDSP.
I contract with a large fortune 500 company in their in-house video facility. Although we edit on FCP and On-line with a digibeta set-up, we output most often to a DVD recorder (Pioneer 7000). I’ve had a couple of instances (out of perhaps 300 DVDs) where someone has said the dick wouldn’t play in their corporate DVD. What’s worked in that case is to burn a copy of that DVD recorder disk in their DVD duplicator. That works fine, and no complaintes from anyone.

I have a JVC DR-M10 DVD recorder. It also has a DV in connector as well as S-Video and RCA Jacks both front and back of unit. The best part of this DVD recorder is that it doesn’t require you to have any images in front to play a DVD. it works the save way as laying off to VHS, etc.
But beware…many of these decks have a defect that causes them to go into an enless loading mode, with the loading light flashing. JVC offers a free fix by sending it back to them. My machine has been flawless. And a great picture!

Of course I’ve double and triple checked. I spoke with AJA and Media 100. No Problem there. With that in mind, where would you suggest I purchase a Mac G5 Quad? I noticed that the Apple Store online has them as unavailable.

Why assume that I’m looking at price only? If that were the case I could buy a used one off of ebay! I’m not ONLY looking for cheap, I was looking for the best place considering service, price, convenience, customer service, etc.

use mpeg streamclip (a free download) to export into FCP. Do your edit then save it back as an Mpeg

(Jerry) – Where are you located? Will you care about support? Why not an intel mac?
I’m located in South Florida. I’d like to have Apple care. The reason I’m not buying a Mac Intel is that I’m building a dual boot NLE system with FCP and Media 100 HDe. Media 100 is not supporting the Intel mac right now, but I will be using the AJA card that comes with the Media 100 HDe to work with bothe FCP and Media 100.
