(FLOH) think that the SATA connections include Power supply for the drives. Look at the internal shipping drive. Has it one or 2 cables? I think it has only one
The first drive that came with the Mac has two cables going to it

Also, the airport extreme does not need an antenna cable attached? or does it?

Hi Kieran-
No, there are no signs of life from the computer. No light. When I plug it in I hear a click like there’s some connection..but nothing happens.
This computer is a refurbished computer direct from Apple.
In the computer I only see one extra cable. It’s a smaller one that I connected to the second drive. But I didn’t think that was right. It’s the 7 pin.
Would the RAM cause it to not power on?

This all seems very complicated . I haven’t done this yet, but often shoot multi-cam projects with two or three cameras having the same timecodes. Can you just change the reel names and put each reel in it’s own bin?

Thanks for the info. So if I went with the Seritek 4-bay drive enclosure from Firmtek, what drives would I buy? Also is thier host card any good as compared to a Sonnet E4P?

I have to agree with Mark here. Tape is so cheap that it’s pointless to re-use it. Kepp those tapes for work tapes. I’ll never risk using a used tape for shooting. Makes no sense. I had a client who hired us to shoot a corporate video and send them the camera footage. The sooter I sub-contracted accidentally used a previouslu used tape. Even the client was ticked off when they saw footage on the end of the tape that wasn’t theirs.

The balcony sounds too far to me. How would you change the tape in the balcony camera? Why not have two cameras side by side one on a tight shot of the presenter, and one on a wide shot. Set the cameras to overlap, so when the tape on one ends the second camera is still rolling.

What was the advantage of recording with the lens cap on? That’s not REALLY blacking a tape. What you really did was re-use a reused tape. You’re bound for disaster with that workflow as you found out. That Mini DV tape is good for one pass. You’ve used three. Put that in your lessons learned file.

Why not burn your music files to CD then import the tracks from CD into your new program?

Just keep in mind 2 Cameras = 2 camera operators and twice the amount of tape stock. It’s always the best approach, but i suggest offering this option to the client first to see if they are interested. Of course audio gets more challenging here as now you need to send the same feeds to two cameras. If you quick enough changing tapes, just ppick the best time as a speaker ends the presentation, or some other break in the presentation.
