(rafalaos) The solution (if is this the problem) is to uncheck the shift-field filter in the clips and the videocard will do it OK.

Where would I find this to uncheck it? How can I see if this is indeed the problem? It must be something in Final Cut as I also edit on Media 100 on this system with no problems like this.

Hi Mark and Tim,

My thoughts are to create a simple video cut to music with suggestive words on the screen. The goal would be for people to view it and show others, perhaps emailing a link to others, to create a buzz leading people to my website. Sort of a PR type of thing. I’m trying to figure out if this would be worthwhile, as most of my clients are large corporations.

As a long time user of Media 100, I had the same question. Media 100 or FCP. More folks were switching to FCP. The when Media 100 HDe came out on with the AJA board, I decided to buy both M100 HDe and FCP Studio. I bought a G5 Quad, (refurbished) an apple cinema 30″, added a second hard drive and created a dual boot system.

In crunch time I’m editing on Media 100 HDe. On down time, I’m editing on FCP to learn the system. I have to ttell you that I’m very pleased with how it’s working so far, with minor issues.

I had a similar problem with my Quad. Try plugging your monitor into the other monitor port. See if that works

I just put together a Media 100 HDe system and a FCP system on a Mac G5 Quad with drives. If you’re familiar with Media 100, the HDe is perfect for you. By adding FCP to the other drive, you have 2 systems in one, uncompressed video that looks great!

Thax, first thanks for your help and patience. Thought you’d like to know that I solved the problem. I needed to set the reference in on my NLE system. That did it.

You can do what I did. Buy both Media 100HDe and FCP. Run them through the AJA board, on a dual boot system. Now I can edit on Media 100 HDE and learn FCP. Then edit on which ever system I choose.

I’m a little disappointed in the HDe system. Thre are little things that could have been made better. For example, the title tool Graffiti requires you to manually update to see your changes in the composite window. But the good outweighs the bad. The video quality is great, even in SD. The number of video tracks also is a plus.

Pros of FCP? More people know it than Media 100. Take a look at the FCP user group on the cow. On Media 100 it’s either Floh or Kieran who have the most knowledge.
