Unfortunately, your computer is very old and so is your OS. I also shoot with an EX1. I was on a mid 2010 Mac Pro Tower and Catalina. Like you, I rather keep what’s working. But eventually things stop working and are not supported.

So the time came to upgrade. I’m not on a 2020 iMac with 64GB of RAM. I changed to FCPX. FCPX was challenging to learn, because it’s NOTHING like FCP7 at all.

But the good news is there are hundreds of tutorial out there.

The other good news is you can import BPAV files directly into FCPX. No need to use XDCAM software. It’s time to make the move John.

  • That’s what I do.

  • I always output my videos straight from FCPX to MP4 with a .h264 wrapper. The quality is excellent.

    John,

I have no idea what you’re talking about. I believe you posted this in the wrong spot.

    Good day to you.

I have to agree with Craig. What does your contract say? Does it specify the length of the edited videos? Does it specify how many revisions are allowed? Does it specify how long a client has to request changes or approve what you’ve done? Does it specify what your rate is for changes outside of the revisions you mentioned? Does it describe the fees for changes in the scope of work.

These should have been listed in your agreement. Unfortunately, your “ultimatum” will not hold water since you can’t amend the agreement now.

Thanks. That helped. Any idea why I can’t trim an adjustment layer? When I go to the end of the layer and try and drag in left. Nothing happens.

    As a follow-up. I had a negative result yesterday. Duh…I’m so surprised.

Patrick. I can’t believe one person can have so many incorrect statements in one post.

First., I was asking as an independent contractor if their house, their rules apply. It’s not a given. I was not sure about this, thus my original post.

Second, I am not “terrified” of getting the virus. I actually believe I had it in 2019. It was horrible. I know for a FACT that I do not have it, because I’m never around anyone who could possible have it. In fact, I believe you are terrified, that’s why you chose to get the unproven jab even though it does not prevent the virus, and you can still spread it to others. You have no clue what’s in the jab, or what the long term effects of the jab will be. No doctor can tell us what the long term effects are. But your fear caused you to take it.

Third, I am doing my shoot on Tuesday. So I haven’t lost anything. I’m “not blowing off steam” as you mistakenly said. But I am concerned because my client just flew into the country and because a jabbed person can spread the virus, is he safe? My opinion is that HE should be tested beforehand. Not me who hasn’t gone anywhere.

Fourth, I’m only using a plumber analogy so you can think about how stupid the workplace rules are. Change it from that to an contracted IT person who needs to update plugins and has managed that system for many years.

Lastly, I’m getting a rapid test today. The original test I was scheduled for involved walking into a CVS with other to get the same test. How many people may have the virus in that store and are standing in close proximity to others? That’s just plain scary and stupid. So I found another rapid test where I can sit in my own safe vehicle, and not come close to others. I’m sure I’m perfectly healthy regardless.

In closing, please don’t assume that you know anything about me, my business,or my health.

    Have a great Sunday.

Patrick shame on you for not knowing the facts. Are you aware that jabbed people can still spread the virus?

Going to get tested while you do not have the virus, but many others do, leaves you susceptible to catching the virus and spreading it on your production sight. Since it takes a couple of days for the virus to affect you, you are spreading something that you tested negative for a few days earlier. Kind a of goofy… but hey, follow the science.

What if they have a plumbing emergency, do they require a contracted plumber to show proof of a vax before they let him fix their issue? OSHA only seems to address EMPLOYEES, not independent contractors.
