Thanks for the reply John,
…Vista 64 is complaining that it doesn’t know what it is and is asking for drivers (which don’t exist)…
Vista recognizes my deck (and lists it as JVC SR-VS30) but ya…says it can’t find drivers for it.
Am I wrong to think that the generic Vista drivers named ksthunk.sys, and msdv.sys (that another JVC deck user said work for his deck and that are used for my camera (Canon XL1S) would work?
If they would/might is there a way to force Vista 64 to use them?
Thanks again John,

I searched for Vista RTM 6.1101-2205 under C:\Windows and nothing shows up. Do you know if that the right place to look? Are you going to devmgmt and right clicking on your deck (and not the OHCI host controller)then properties/drivers?
When I hook up either of my DV cams (Canon XL1S’) to the firewire it uses C:\Windows\system 32\drivers\ksthink.sys but when I point the deck to this folder it can’t find it (or doesn’t want to use it).
Thanks for your patience Fredrick,

Thanks JR,
I will definitely try that once I get the DVI to VGA adaptor I have on order (should be Monday).
Thanks again,

Thanks JR,
I’ve googled all morning (for ATI RADEON HD2400 xt manual users guide review) but can’t determine if it has the capability to do both or not so I guess I’ll just have to buy the cable to find out.
For the last few years I’ve been using my JVC SR-VS30 deck for the preview but Vista 64 is complaining it can’t find drivers for it…. but if V8.1 has the capability to utilize the S-video out along with the dual monitor (if the card is capable) then maybe I should go that route since I don’t use the deck for capture anymore (I capture through the camera due to the deck pixelating frames occasionally.)
Thanks again Jr,

I’m just trying to wanting to use the JVC SR-VS30 to utilize preview monitor. From another post from you I was hoping the ADS Pyro PCI 64R2 you suggested would resolve the problem. What drivers show up for your JVC SR-VS30 and firewire card?
Thanks,

Sorry to have to respond to my own post but I don’t see a way to edit it-
Anyway, I forgot to mention V8.1 reports device unavailable fwiw -
Hey George,
After having several issues outside of Vegas I decided to just do a clean install of Vista 64 and re-install V8.1.
I went to see if my preview device worked and it did ….flawlessly.
However I received the card you suggested yesterday and installed it this morning (since it’s faster than my old one).
I’m back to square one as Windows is saying it can’t find drivers or software for it.
When I booted up after installing the new card, Windows installed Texas Instruments drivers with a date of 6-21-06.
The deck is showing up under Imaging Devices…FWIW.
Any suggestions…. other than install my old card again? Thanks,
Randy
