Are you definitely on Active Camera or named camera view? I had this the other day where I had switched to top view and couldn’t figure out why orbit wasn’t working

That’s over really fast, it’s quite hard to tell, but I’d guess Card Wipe maybe able to get you something similar. Possibly it’s one of the TV noise presets and not part of the transition.

AE’s Character tools have selection based controls. Highlight one of your spaces and reduce the width percentage. Then just copy that space and paste it other any others you have.

If you’re creating a shape based on a rectangle, then you won’t see any bezier handles until you convert the Vertices.

You’ll need to select that tool from the menu attached to the pen tool.

I’ve spent 30 minutes playing around with AE trying to get this effect for you and you’re right: there’s no easy way to do this.

One possible option – and it seems a bit of a long way round but…

You could pre-comp your text animation so that it animates down, then track the cursor so you can use it’s Y value to animate the position of your pre-comp. That way the cursor can move left-to-right, but as it moves down, your pre-comp will move up. Your cursor will stay in the same position vertically.

I think the easiest way to achieve this would be to use object buffers in C4D Lite

This tutorial talks about it. I’ve linked to the start of the shadows bit and he talks about it for about 8 minutes.

I’m in danger of becoming a one-trick pony here, but have you tried with CC Particle World. The textures can be other comps and if you use Fractal Noise to be the fire texture, it should be procedural, so you won’t get a blurring. At least not to the same degree.

Steve Lidrbauch’s tutorial covers how to do fire using CC Particle World and Turbulent Displace.
