8 in a row, that is very very unfortunate. Plus, you had asked some really great questions too. I’ll sheepishly admit to having even played with the subclip thing and also came up with a blank. But not feeding back to you, my male ego must’ve got in the way of not wishing to show myself up as a failure . . . (big hint there!)
Maybe we should all, in future, say something along the lines of- “Hey great question, but I have no idea what I can add – maybe others can chime in?” Maybe THAT would have gotten the ball rolling?
As I said, 8-in-Row, that just has to be a record – of some sort. Oh yeah, it has been known for this chap to ask questions that have the Gurus gnashing their collective jowls. When I am “avoided” I often think that this is what is being thought: “Ah Grazie, c’mon, you know darn well that Vegas can’t do that!!” – but I wouldn’t know?
Anyway, I shall endeavour to keep my “ego” in check more and just respond – willy-nilly – yeah?
Best regards – and KEEP asking them Qs!!!

I recently changed my email addie – my previous email service was closing their business. And, as a result our webmaster recognised that for some reason I was running 2 accounts and that this updating, thankfully, brought to light the mess I had gotten myself into. And during this short period I too was being moderated.
Have you changed your email provider and notified our esteemed Webmaster here?

I don’t have the DVD to refer to. If you have a link to what you are referring to I could have a “stab” at a solution?
In the meantime, have a look at transition envelopes. This function allows us to sustain, hold or even REVERSE a transition effect. It works in a similar way as a velocity envelope.

Hah! That was it – of course, now that I KNOW!!! I wasn’t saving from Pi using the config of RGBA – fool!!!
I was thinking that AS Pi does “Save Alpha” I was good to go. But I wasn’t. That was blatantly clear.
I now have Lagarith working in V8.
The files sizes are remarkable. It has only gone from 15mbs to 23mbs. Amazing!
Alan, thanks for your patience and your person-to-person skills.
Best regards

Alan? Can you please note the size of your Lagarith and Uncomp files.
I am getting:-
Uncomp = 980mbs
Lagarith = 15mbs
That is a ratio of 65:1
IS this a clue?
TIA,

Thank you Alan.
I now have Uncomp from pi to V working with Alpha. Excellent! I have no idea why? All I did was start a completely new Pi session and project.
I have had no success with Larg in either V7 or V8. Larg is coming in at 15mbs and Uncomp is 980mb. Maybe THAT is a clue?
PNGs work fine.

Yup. VOB2MPG v2.5 worked.
Got the MPG file and loaded that into Vegas. Both video and audio streams working fine.

Well, there’s a thing.
I just tried with one of my own DVDs and it must now be bad, ‘cos it isnt importing to VEgas. Anyway, now I am trialing some s/w “VOB2MPEG” free s/w to see if I can force the import of at least VOBs to MPEGs externally to Vegas – and this from a “suspect” DVD of mine. VOBs are the DVD files on the DVD.
I’ll let you know how I get on.

Going from VHS to DVD and now from DVD to something you can make a further DVD? I think the “process” is less of an issue than what the final quality will look like!
Your process is the:
DVD > AV > DV(conversion) > F/w > VidCap (Vegas) > Vegas
OR how about
Place DVD into pc DVD player/burner and go:
Vegas > File > Import > DVD Camcorder Disc
Then you will have a Project Media pane full of the stuff, which you can place on the timeline and pick n mix.
Here’s a thought, and I know you did NOT ask for one – an inter-dub DVD<>DVD device – but maybe there is such a device out there? My understanding is that the files on the DVD, mpeg2 and ac3, are “delivery” formats files, made for DVD authoring. I have not done much mpeg2 > edit > further mpeg2 process for DVD creation? I have used DVDShrink, which has some great abilities – I have used it to copy from one of my own DVDs to another, and there were some editing options. Memory failing here! So maybe there is another s/w that will disentangle the VOBs and so on, fire editing WITHOUT further compression? Maybe THAT is what you should be looking at?
Interesting . . .
