I ask my questions with care – I make them as clear and articulate as I can. I search this forum and other Vegas forums and Sony’s manual before asking. I also contribute answers to some conversations. Nonetheless, I haven’t received a reply to any of my questions since Nov 27. Um, why?
(I did get good responses here earlier.)

Nor did I receive a reply to my Nov 17 question:
Batch Render Subclips? [I answered this myself, then asked the follow-up question in the re: post above]

I know this is out of your jurisdiction, but I also got no response to my 2 questions on the Flash Forum:

As they say, “What’s up with that?”

Sorry Jill it does happen and it is certainly not personal. We all have our different areas of knowledge and experience and I wont try to answer a question if I can’t offer a viable solution based on experience. If you research the forums you will see a trend whereas there are many posters but far fewer responders. Some people just get their answers from searches or have their queries solved and then move on. Over all the people on here do a great job in trying to help as best they can anyone and everyone. It could be that your problems have not been encountered by us and so we stay silent in the hopes that someone else can shed some light. In just a few days there are many added posts and depending on our real schedules we might not be on for few days and as such don’t go back and look at older postings. I’ve posted questions on certain areas and have never gotten answers as well. But that is not the norm. With all the varied platforms, systems, software, configurations and applications it is not hard to understand why this is so. Keep trying and reposting. Someone might have and answer or you might find the answer and be able to share it with us.

    Thanks Joe.
P.S. I see your replies to someone else’s ‘Low Memory Question’ coincidentally partially answers my “Project ‘full’? Can’t add to Project Media” question, asked on the same day. Thanks for that too.

Same here. I don’t use subclips at all in my editing so I really didn’t have much to offer. It sounds like you are stressing Vegas to limits that most of us have not done. I didn’t answer the sapf0 files question because I didn’t think you could prevent them but I didn’t know for sure.

Here’s one answer: Yes they will be. You are correct. The information is lost if you go between projects. Instead do a “Save As” to the new project name and then delete the things not needed in that new project. That’s the three posts listed above.

You pretty well answered your own question here and found a script. You did ask one last question which was not answered and that’s how to create regions with the sub-clip name. I know Excalibur can do this using the “Create Markers” tool with the “Place Marker At Each Event” option, “Create Regions instead of Markers” option, and “Name using the Take Name” option selected. I’m sure Ultimate S has a similar feature.

    Thanks for replying, Edward.

Regarding “Copied Subclips to New Project, BUT Names Lost”, I should have called it “Copied Subclips to *Another* Project, BUT Names Lost”, or clarified that I wanted to bring 60 projects’ subclips into one project. “New” is ambiguous – I meant not “a blank project” but “a project that is new for these subclips, one which they have not been in”.
So the “save as” method you suggested won’t help.

Do you know why Vegas loses the subclip names?

Do you think it’s conceivable that a script could be written which would
    (a) enable copying subclips with their names to another project,
    or
    (b) enable copying a batch of subclips’ names and then, after the user manually switches to the ‘new’ project, ‘pasting’ those names onto corresponding/selected/the-same-#-of subclips.
I can do the first part of (b):
I run the script ‘Export Regions as Subtitles’, then in the view ‘Edit Details’ -> ‘Commands’, I click the top left corner to select all, then copy and paste into a spreadsheet.

I’ll paste this and any replies into the ‘Copied Subclips to New Project’ topic.

Like others, I’ll reply if I now the solution or think I can point in the right direction.

Re Subclips – My workflow doesn’t include the trimmer or subclips, and since Vegas V3 I have never used the trimmer. So, I can’t help there.

I am more frequently on the Sony forums and I don’t recall seeing your questions there.

8 in a row, that is very very unfortunate. Plus, you had asked some really great questions too. I’ll sheepishly admit to having even played with the subclip thing and also came up with a blank. But not feeding back to you, my male ego must’ve got in the way of not wishing to show myself up as a failure . . . (big hint there!)

Maybe we should all, in future, say something along the lines of- “Hey great question, but I have no idea what I can add – maybe others can chime in?” Maybe THAT would have gotten the ball rolling?

As I said, 8-in-Row, that just has to be a record – of some sort. Oh yeah, it has been known for this chap to ask questions that have the Gurus gnashing their collective jowls. When I am “avoided” I often think that this is what is being thought: “Ah Grazie, c’mon, you know darn well that Vegas can’t do that!!” – but I wouldn’t know?

Anyway, I shall endeavour to keep my “ego” in check more and just respond – willy-nilly – yeah?

Best regards – and KEEP asking them Qs!!!

    Grazie
