But we haven’t “got it”! I wanted a “wheel” – we got that, after several attempts experimenting with the Square and then the mighty Octagon and then . . well, a circle=wheel. I also wanted penicillin, and that took time. But I knew what I wanted: A cure for infections.
No, we haven’t got what we asked for.
If SONY choose to use this particular “Come ‘n get me!“, that’s up to them. But we STILL haven’t got it. Asking, shooting for the Moon, is what has been at the centre of all great strides and improvements, generally.
Bottom line here is that we all want more fluid fps with moderately complex FX-ing and Compositing. Making use of the muscle power in a GPU was to be one way.
Oh, and BTW
[Stephen Mann] ” Be careful what you wish for – you might get it.”
None of us asked for the pickle that’s come about and apparent. I’m kinda fortunate in getting the NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 Ti, which mostly works well-ish. But it was the squeezed niche of that series WITH the Ti (I understand?) that had made the difference.

In the digital domain, we expose for the Brights and adjust-up those areas which are too “dark”, but keeping the Brights within limits too. To do this we need to have JUST those areas needing to be adjusted, and adjusted within parameters that matter to us. Therefore we need to be able to split or apply FX to those predetermined areas. One way is to use a Graph or Curve. Another way is to have the software Mask areas for treatment.
SONY Colour Curves (graphs), and now, recently I purchased NewBlue ColorFast. NB CF is a “mask-based” colour correction s/w having 3 layers of Chroma (colour) and Luminance (light<>dark)control and is just amazing. I also use Magic Bullet Looks in VP12 which too has a limited masking control. But the real doozy would be to have RG’s Mojo . . . gorgeous! However that at present is only for the MAC. . . We’ll see . . . .
Anyhoo…, it’s a breeze to bring-up the shadows or underexposed areas using the SONY CCurves:-
BEFORE Using SONY CCurves
AFTER Using SONY CCurves
I hope this helps?

[Av Prophoto] ” The best example”
You’re not kidding! That was beautuful. My guess is that was done in-camera with a star-type filter to bling it up. Vegas does have “Starburst” but it wont come anywhere close to that luscious and analogue look that that sample shows. The other gotcha is that that sample just shows how extraordinary the real effect of 3D has on a revolving item. See how the optical reflections “bend” with the angle of rotation of a ring. Vegas definitely couldn’t capture that look! Maybe there is a Boris or AE Plug that’ll come close?
Others may have ideas.

[Joao Souza] ” thanks a lot for complicating something so simple”
Better to work with what is intended to be used. How is that making something more complicated? Working WITH what will be used will eradicate any issues about suitability.

Why are you resistant in sending your own background? It would make more sense to manipulate that which you intended to use – no?

July 19, 2013 at 5:44 am in reply to: My 2 year project file has been corrupt! Please ;(Ah, that plugging in of a Mic may provide more of an indication >> solution – that could also mean a clash of Audio and any CODEC clash with that MC thing.
Had you started in one build of VPS9 and then updated that build?
Interesting . . .

July 19, 2013 at 5:41 am in reply to: My 2 year project file has been corrupt! Please ;(Thanks Roger. But I maybe well off the Target here!
However, I know that that mcmp4plug.dll – that the mc part relates to MainConcept and mp4 is, well an MP4, and it says “plug”. There’s also an apparent choking on that “sfwbdmux.dll” and when I read “mux” anything I reach for my “Audio” Colt-45! Hence a rescan of the VST Folder for starters.
But all of this is predicated – I think – on the user’s usage of NOT VP12, but Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0 Version 9.0b (Build 92) which I know nothing about, and the ability a User has to track down through 9’s menus? Also, SONY has only Build 66, and our chum here has a Build 92. It’s odd that the Official Site has a Build “younger” than what is referred to in the ERROR report – Build 92. But that could mean that SONY’s Update/download site isn’t updated?!?

[Joao Souza] “So what?”
Well, many of the individuals here earn their income from originating or using works that they have permission to use or is copyright free or pay not inconsiderable amounts of money to do so. Do remember, there are no “turned” blind-eyes in the litigation courts. That’s how it is.
[Joao Souza] “Nobody will use that pic, it’s only to show me an example.”
In adjusting this Copyright piece – which is a rather lovely creative piece of artwork in itself – without permission would lay open many of those who’d come into contact with the piece to the lawyers, plus the more important issue of adjusting somebody’s hard thought through and worked-up Artwork. On that last point, I can think of at least one other Cow Member here who IS a fine artist, who’d seriously be interested in a third party adjusting his output, without his written permission. But that’s only my opinion.
OK, the Copyright issue out of the way, if you posted a piece that was the actual piece you were intending to use, then that would provide much needed technical indication to a Vegas Editor as to what is or is not possible. Put simply, adjusting a “found” piece is rather akin to attempting to do brain surgery, with twelve foot scalpels!
So, for these 2 reasons, do post the background that you’d be using, assuming you have generated this yourself or have written permissions to do so and the ability to post those same authenticated permissions here.
On a final note, I’m glad you’ve posted this request, as you have indicated the type of work and workflow you employ. Always useful to be have information as to how others work.
