Star filter effect for jewelry
Hello everybody,
It is my first post here.I would like to find a way to create star filter/star burst effect to my jewelry video. The best example of what I am trying to do is here:

I am not new in jewelry photography, but need your help in this, new to me area.
What you think, is there a real filter or post production?Thanks

You’re not kidding! That was beautuful. My guess is that was done in-camera with a star-type filter to bling it up. Vegas does have “Starburst” but it wont come anywhere close to that luscious and analogue look that that sample shows. The other gotcha is that that sample just shows how extraordinary the real effect of 3D has on a revolving item. See how the optical reflections “bend” with the angle of rotation of a ring. Vegas definitely couldn’t capture that look! Maybe there is a Boris or AE Plug that’ll come close?
Others may have ideas.

The star filter/star burst filter as Graham mentioned,
is the best you gonna get from Vegas. There are other
and better tools yes, but careful use of this filter can

Graham, Steve, thank you for your replies.
You are right, I’ve tried Vegas…not really hard, only once, and maybe just did not find right settings there. I gave a try Tiffen 4 point 2mm star filter as well and the result is not acceptable…and again, it may be better if I try it with different lighting setups.
But, what I can say definitely – both, optical filter and Vegas significantly degrade image/footage quality.Thanks
